ATS engine vs ETS
Is there any major differences between the game engine of American vs Euro truck sim? When I drive in ATS it feels a lot better than ETS but I could not actually say exactly what it is, just feels more like I am in the truck somehow... I wonder if ETS would ever get an "upgrade" or it will always be stuck behind?

I've felt the opposite - ETS2 trucks feel smoother and easier to drive than in ATS where they're more tank-like. Could just be my configuration on them, but I suspect a lot of that feeling comes from the US trucks having snouts and the Euro ones are flat-faced.

Maybe thats it, for me having never drove trucks irl it feels like they should be like that, harder to drive, but maybe ETS is more realistic? The ATS trucks feel heavier and that seems better for me.

The USA trucks should be smoother as you are basically sitting in the middle of a see saw with the longer wheel base. Although i'm
Scottish have never driven truck in Europe but USA cab overs are a lot rougher ride than the long noses.
Besides what was already told about the different driveability of trucks, there's no actual difference between engines.

The real difference is geographical and mostly one gameplay feature here and other there. Like paper checking on border crossing, which currently only exists on ETS2 because ATS currently features only one country. Maybe the closest ATS has are the agricultural checkpoints around California. Sometimes I have the feeling it's actually a different country when I drive there to be honest...

There are differences in map design which can make trucks feel different when driving them. ATS has a lot more long, sweeping bends with camber towards the apex of the turn, so you can keep pinned to the speed limit while cornering. Whereas ETS2 has a lot more narrow, twisty roads with sharper bends and less camber - this mirrors real life, as generally America has more land space for infrastructure than many EU countries. Perhaps because you don't have to slow down as much and the roads undulate more instead of stop-start, that makes the game and the trucks feel smoother to you?

The engines are being updated in tandem for both games, so they are identical. The feelings you are experiencing come down to the trucks. US vs Euro trucks are built quite differently, and so they will feel different.

The US CoE are from a different age. Having driven only 7.5 ton GVW trucks myself I can tell you that modern ones (Mercedes Atego, MAN TGL) are a much smoother ride than the Mercedes LK from the 80es. And I have been passenger in a Mercedes Actros (short haul configuration). The cabs are meanwhile so smoothly sprung that there is nothing hard up there. The Actros felt much smoother than most cars - not a surprise with wheel springs and dampers and a second set for the cab. That thing has probably more spring travel than a car has ride height. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a heavy truck from the 80es like a Mercedes SK or MAN F90 to compare. But I'm sure they will ride much harder than the Actros (was a 1st Generation MP3, so already some years older as well).
