Courtesy Flash
So this is random but is there anyway to make a mod or keybind to flash your trailer and cab lights aka the courtesy flash or trailer interruption?

There is the 'light horn' button in the keybind menu, is that the sort of thing you're thinking of?

I believe the closest thing in the game right now is the "Light Horn", default key "J". This will flash your lights as long as you hold down the button. I do not remember what other lights, if any, are turned on when you do this though, other than the high beams.

Neither of those are for trailer interrupt. Light Horn flashes the high beams on the truck. What the OP is describing is not in the game.

Ok, I'm gonna have to ask what a 'trailer interruption' is then, since that was edited into the OP after I replied, and a Google search of the term just brings up a trailer for some 2016 b-movie called Interruption. I've never heard the phrase before.

OP wants to be able to flash the trailer lights on/off.

There is no switch/mechanism to control them separately in the game, so no mod to enable you to do so, sorry. ;)

idk how they do it elsewhere, but over here when a trucker does a courtesy after passing a truck that gave a courtesy flash it's just blinker left and right on off once or twice.

But both are illigal things to do btw.

In order to give the courtesy flash of trailer lights, the AI vehicle needs to flash their headlights letting you know you're past them and safe to move over. If you dont get a signal from the AI then there's no reason for the "courtesy"

Trailer interruption is basically just turning off the trailers light’s momentarily in the states it’s a sign of a “thank you” for letting the driver into your lane when you signaled them that’s it’s safe to do so

Ahh see you understand me I’m glad :). This thread is turning into it’s own discussion fast I thought my explanation was good enough but I guess not to some

Quite odd it’s illegal in your country do they fine you for that I’d love to know the reason behind why it’s illegal

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. Here in the UK truckers (and indeed pretty much every road user) momentarily flash their hazard warning lights to signal appreciation like that. I actually used to do it myself in ETS/ATS to thank people for letting me in, but then I realised that the AI interpreted even such a short burst of hazards as my vehicle being broken, and they would invariably move over into the next lane in order to overtake me as if I were stationary.

I always thought truckers flashed their lights to let the passing truck know they were clear to move back to the lane the truck they're passing is in. So yeah....the AI does'nt do that. Too bad really.

Other laws make it illegal by default, Highbeams are only allowed in specific situations, none of them is being nice to someone, atst you're never allowed to use them when you're blinding other road users.
And the same goes for blinkers/hazards, only allowed to use them when you're changing direction or in case of an actual hazzard, for example an accident, or your car breaks down and you have to park on the hard shoulder, or when there's a sudden traffic jam.

But when you use it as a courtesy you will not get pulled over and fined, Police understands the situation, and also they'd have their hands full if they have to pull over everyone that does it :-)

This is from the government taken from this website:
https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/verkeersveiligheid
(the English version of the website doesn't have the same information sections)

"You may use high beam in the dark if you do not encounter oncoming traffic. High beams are also prohibited if you are directly behind another vehicle. You may use high beam in and outside built-up areas."

It's a truckers thing ... its not illegal, but you only see truckers doing it ... I've done it in my car ... quick flash of the headlights, or sometimes I'll turn em off and back on .. and then get the trailer lights flashed off and on for the courtesy .... its NOT an illegal thing

It is illegal in the UK and always has been:
"You MUST NOT use hazard warning lights while driving or being towed unless you are on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway and you need to warn drivers behind you of a hazard or obstruction ahead."
Highway Code rule 116, the Highway code is not law, but failing to follow it can be deemed an offence of driving without due care and attention.
It may be unlikely that you would be fined, but it is still illegal.
