The truck seems to slow down too quickly...
Hi,

I just played the demo, and it bothered me how quickly the truck slowed down when I took my foot off the accelerator.

I went from about 75 MPH to a full stop literally within seconds. Kind of strange?

Not hitting the brake? I know a high brake intensity can make you stop ridiculously fast but that's why it's a slider option. I've coasted and not had that issue so it is kind of strange.

Nope. Not hitting the brake.

Also, the game didn't recognize that I have an Elite Xbox One controller.

But anyway, you're saying this is a glitch? That I should be able to glide along with my foot off the accelerator?

That's really strange. Maybe you have an automatic braking or something enabled? I'm not sure what would cause that especially since I've got most of them enabled on mine and I don't have that issue.

I get what you mean about the controller though. I use my steam controller and sometimes it just decides to do keyboard only instead of using the controller. It's super frustrating.

Thats abnormal behavior it should glide a long time before stopping, infact you need to apply brakes for it to stop the way you describe it.. I'd check up on the controller setup if I were you

youre using a controller? If I may be so frank I would reccomend G27 with pedals, but a very good alternative is mouse and keyboard tbh I used that a long time before switching to G27 wheel. mouse is a smooth steering wheel with a low sensitivity setting

go to the controls screen and for the brake see if the green bar is full right like its active. mode might need to be set to inverted instead of centered. might need to setup the controls on that screen again and see if that helps

These controls are just frustrating. I've just spent fifteen minutes in a parking lot tying to figure out how to accelerate.

The game simply will not allow me to go forward. Fussing with slider settings in the menu is not my idea of a good time.

I don't remember having these issues with ETS.

Actually the controller setup in ATS is much better... :/ I wouldnt blame the game for that

Controls are exactly the same as ETS2. whatever you had them set to in ETS just set same in ATS

If your using a joystick for accelerating and breaking then that can be it because I had tried a controller on ETS2 and had the same problem but I tied the gas and break on the same joystick so the moment I let off the gas it slammed in the breaks.

From what I know, you can copy the control config file from one game to the other in Windows.

same for linux and most likely mac as well. even between OS's works fine.

I'll try again tonight. I got in a short drive before the 'I can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ move forward incident' and really liked it. Nice relaxing game. You really feel like you're driving a beast.

i might be wrong but i think you've might pressed the engine brake button by accident....
BigT57 Jun 10, 2016 @ 10:00am
Be sure the retarder brake is not engaged. That happened to me once.

So I went back to Euro Truck Simulator 2, which I haven't played in quite a while. It turns out that my suspicions were correct: my Xbox One Controller isn't working properly with the American version of the game.

In Euro Truck Simulator, my truck 'behaves' properly, accelerating when I hit the gas, and not coming to a sudden standstill unless I hit the brakes.

My truck is coasting as it should. Honestly, I thought I was going crazy there. Nope. There's something wrong with the setup.

Anyhow, I think I'm just going to stick with the Euro game, and maybe by the Scandanavia DLC instead.
