The game has always been inexpensive and during Steam sales it's practically a steal. Who knows how many people got the game cheap, or gifted, tried it out, and just figured it wasn't for them. There are many games I've gotten, played just a little, never touched again, or even refunded, and I didn't leave a negative review or vote for them.
Fundamentally what the 96% positive tells you is that those who do get into this game have barely a bad word to say about it - that once it gets its hooks into you and you understand why people were raving about it in the first place that you will push its virtues to anyone that will listen. I always wondered why PC Gamer were so high on a truck sim until I actually tried it for myself and my adult son still pooh-poohs the idea of playing a game representing 'a real life job'.
Just as an aside I have just shy of 100 hours of driving time in ATS and have never upgraded a garage and likely never will.
