Break (Brake) checks
I’ve noticed If I’m cruising down the highway and I get up on the rear of another vehicle they usually break check me.

I feel like they do it purposely Is this a thing or just crappy AI driving.

Thanks

Don't tailgate! You are screwing yourself by doing that.

Probably triggered by your approach, programmed to do it.

Tailgating and driving too fast for conditions (trying to go near the speed limit on a wet, winding road at night) are the main causes of collisions in this game. AI vehicles do stuff like this occasionally. You learn to predict their behavior and give them a little space. It goes a long way to keep you out of trouble. Truth be told, they cut the player drivers a lot of slack as well, backing off on the highway if you drift towards their lane.

The AI are programmed to slow down when ANYTHING is, or is about to be, too close to them. Want to avoid break checks? Don't get so close to them. ;)

Thanks all. I know how to avoid the brake check. Just trying to have some fun.

Also just realized I used the wrong “Brake” in subject. Whoops.

I love when this happens on WOT jobs where I can't even *go* the speed limit. As a rule, I generally don't speed at all, but when this happens I'm more than happy to simply ram them, then do the wiggle to shrug them off to one side or another, and continue on my happy way.

Best of all, I usually don't get charged an accident fee, so my coinsurance stays low. Win-win!

That would be because in WOT contracts, you are restricted by the rules SCS puts forth for those.

I've learned to keep an eye on my GPS for an indication of the 2 lane splitting in to a divided highway, you'll see that the road gets wider. Know that no matter what AI you are following, they will 9 times out of 10 hit the brakes entering the zone. Sometimes these zones are pretty short so I hang back and time a run at them and usually manage a pass instead of an accident.

As mentioned by others above, don't tailgate! Play the long game and you'll come out on top.

I guess that explains why they'll be going 70 mph and change lanes to right in front of me then suddenly slow down to 30 mph. It's registering them as being 'too close' even though they caused the situation.

I fine all AI $5000 each.
