we see several old cars from 20th Century in racing games. It is not absolutely zero chance to see a COE truck here officially. There is a realistic chance. BUT, the thing is, we need to get lots of NEW truck models before the old models, at least manufacturers need them first. Once they think that there are enough current trucks they sell now, then old models may arrive as a proof of their historic place in US roads since beginning. This will be a good enough PR for them.

At least in ETS2 the manufacturers said theyd never allow old, dirty or broken trucks. So, the chance for that in ATS is zero.

If Freightliner gets onboard, it's possible we could see the recent iteration of the Argosy. But of course we would get the Cascadia first. AFAIK, the Argosy was the last cabover built for the American market.

Freightliner has tried before to hype up the Argosy in America (with no success), so I think that gives it a fighting chance of making it into ATS.

On just the tiny bit of research i did, cab overs were left behind because they usually have smaller engines. While this is fine for avg. loads it still limits you from accepting every job.
I wonder if common rail fuel injection has shrank the footprint of engines enough that maybe they could now squeeze big uns in there? Cab overs are the maneuvering machines for sure but i saw those things bounce so much growing up, maybe that is another reason. Truckers and kidney belts, yup.

Won’t happen. It was last sold in NA 14 years ago, now it’s sold for export only. Anyone who wants one in NA now has to get it as a glider kit... which is about equivalent to installing on as a mod in ATS.

Then why do you think we use em here in europe since 50 years, if they were so bad. We haul heavier than you in general.
TwinShadow 2020 年 5 月 4 日 上午 7:01
Europe has length restriction laws in place where the US doesn't. I've heard stories that some of the earlier COE's were uncomfortable to be in far as the US is concerned. Engineering advancements since then could make them more comfortable now, but once length restrictions were lifted in the states, they fell out of favor quickly.

I've also heard that COE's are also a bit harder to do maintenance work on when it comes to the engines unlike regular bonnet hood trucks.

There is no current iteration of the Argosy.
