As there are no earnable or craftable outfit or glider cosmetics, if you want your avatar to look different from a majority of the other players, you're going to have to pay ($) quite a bit for it. This is how S6 has decided to fund developing, maintaining, & running the game. Not a base-game price. Not a monthly subscription. Not an IRL merch shop with an IRL hotpot card game, plushies, shirts, hats, or mugs.
If you ask me, I wouldn't bother playing during 0.178.0. Sounds like it's a near unplayable mess. Has anyone not on the Discord even confirmed whether or not the third huntable creature known as "muujin" are back? Edit: Thank you, Valimure, for the update. Well at least one problem was resolved, but sounds like several more were made.
They are indeed. I finally logged in on steam just a bit ago so I could post my review.
The game is a laggy mess, however. Tons of stuttering, and watching people clipping through the ground as they run.
Played for maybe 20 minutes before the game just put me to sleep! Too much small print reading to do.
Woke up 4 hours later and it asked if I would recommend the game --- dont think so.
Cant stand games where they constantly ask for $$ for small stuff, and having other players run around is very distracting too.
Despite that, the only cosmetics offered in the shop are for gliders and clothing sets which sometimes include unique hairstyles. There's no way to buy a single piece of one set so you have to buy the whole outfit.
The outfits are predetermined color sets so you get a pick of three color sets per outfit.
That said, you can get some free cosmetics through their Refer a Friend promotion for an idea of how outfits in this game work and for changing up your glider:

One of the major criticisms is that the "pet feature" is locked behind the cash shop (they are a bonus for purchasing coins), but it's just another minor cosmetic thing. Having a pet is no benefit and there's only four of them.

ETA: I forgot to mention that the main "money sink" is that you have to purchase coins then purchase the cosmetics in the cash shop. There's no way to purchase an exact amount of coins so you have to round up. This means you can end up with excess coins. It seems like they have modified the prices for bundles to be closely tied to the coin packages, but individual outfits will leave you with extra. This is a common practice in a lot of games with a cash shop so most players are desensitized to it by now, but I thought I would include it because that is a deal breaker for some.
The downside of it is that the gameplay is just mediocre at best and I say this as someone who played hundreds of hours of this game before it came to Steam. It's hard to mentally justify spending money on the game in its current state unless it really does bring you joy to play it.
Don't even think about joining the Discord server. I have every channel on there muted except the status channels so I can keep up to speed on what's going on with the game.
P.S. Don't have the same Steam name, Discord name, and character name, because people WILL stalk you to harass you.
Game with blood and guts flying around : nice, friendly community.
Game trying too hard to look friendly: full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Why is it so often like this? LOL
