If combat is what you mean by PVE, then no. Palia doesn't need combat, bosses, raids, etc. There's nothing wrong with an online game focusing solely on farming and crafting. If you want combat, there are so many games out there you can play instead, so see if your wife would be interested in any of them in case you wanna play together. FFXIV might please both of you if you can be bothered to pay the monthly sub, as it has very extensive gathering and crafting systems. Let Palia be the strictly cozy game it is.
This is purely pve... there are NO pvp elements... and I a PVP mainly player am loving this game... its nice to relax and not be yelling all the time and simply sit here in the company of friends doing something that doesnt make me rage lol
The game is very relaxed... the community as far as i have seen has been amazing.... its played by both PC and switch players currently so... the playerbase is nice....
I would suggest giving it a go and trying it out
I've never heard anyone use "PVE" to refer to anything non-combat. And PVP does not mean high score leaderboards, it means directly interacting with other players in competition. This game is almost entirely co-op, not pvp. Yes you can snipe prey and ores etc but its not an intended competition, and many resources can not be harvested in one "attack" (whether pick, axe, bow, bomb, etc)
