(I was going for Pacifist, so I didn't kill anything in the forest or wastelands until after I finished the third task. After being denied the pacifist achievement, I reloaded the game and killed one enemy of each type, but there were no goblins in the forest at that point. Thus, I am missing the points for killing the various types of redcap goblins.)
I also haven't figured out the Friend in Need achievement. That may or may not be my missing point. (Not all of the achievements have points associated with them.)
Friend in Need achievement:
When searching the town for Varner's location, let the hourglass run out and the bomb will explode. You have to do this before finding his location or you will blow up along with the bomb and Varner.
That being said, saving Varner is the optimal outcome as far as experience goes.
It's definitely possible to get 500 points, as our beta testers accomplished it. The missing point is likely a very obscure action (and I think I know which one), but It's more fun to sit back and watch if anyone figures it out. ;)
For me, it's easy to miss minor things like remembering to look at the plaque outside before rushing in to defeat the island priestess, or remembering to ask the bread merchant about the brass button when I know from a previous playthrough where it came from. Jonis's comments during the second task are also easy to miss, but I don't think that there are points for them.
Maybe I'll try an air mage playthrough, where I show every object every person just to see how they respond. That seems like an air mage kind of thing to do. It'll probably take a while, though.
In the meantime, something is UP with the point rewards regarding monsters. Sometimes you get 2 points, sometimes 1, sometimes none, sometimes you get a point for a monster you've killed before. I haven't scrutinized each instance and compared it by which chapter you kill what mob under what element (because this is not my job).
I've beaten the 4 paths and gotten nearly all the achieves. Gonna put this one aside until someone else finds the obscure action or a few patches happen.
As far as showing all items to all characters, I kept up with this as best I could, though I'm sure I forgot a couple things. Anyway, I suspect one of the more common things to miss point-wise is giving the feather comb to the Flyterian guard, although this probably needs to be done after getting the necessary info from Falc. I don't remember for certain, but I believe the action awards 1 point.
I will have to finish my air mage or fire mage playthrough to see whether I get 500 points this time. My near perfect earth mage run doesn't have a lot of save files, and the water mage game with frequent save files missed too many points along the way.
@ Fast Jimmy - For me, no, although I'm sure I didn't show it everything I could've. Another instance I'm curious about is when talking to the Air Master upon doing that class' sidequest; I completed it pretty early during the 2nd trial.
This was it for me, as I suspect it will be for a lot of other people who can't find that last part. You're a gentleman and a scholar, sir.
