It cannot be overstated how massively influential Dragon Quest III was on the JRPG genre. It absolutely dominated the culture in Japan to a degree that the NES Final Fantasy games, despite being popular and influential, didn't come close to. Nearly every criteria you would consider necessary to be a "JRPG" traces its roots back to this game.
With that said, the game has only been out for a couple of hours, so most people here can't answer how your questions apply specifically to this remaster rather than the original. You'd need to go read reviews from reviewers who got pre-release copies for that information.
I feel like 40 would be more appropriate for this release.
I realize a lot of these things are stylistic choices to keep it similar to the original Dragon Quest III, but I think that means it should have been priced accordingly.
Just play the original.
Besides the amount and quality of content, how much could this remake cost to make?
There are so many great games out here, something so overpriced can wait until it’s on sale for 15 to 20$ - the price of many excellent and IMO superior indies.
Just my view. If someone is fixated on DQ, they will happily pay 60 and SEnix will even more happily oblige to squeeze them.
A lot of remasters aren’t priced in proportion of the value of their content and development effort, but for IP and nostalgia, a model I have little sympathy for.
But I also never appreciated the DQ series, felt bare and boring compared to other old RPGs like Lufia, Lunar, FFVI, not to mention proper PC ones like Ultima and the original Fallouts.
if they included 1 2 and 3 for that price(maybe 70$ for all three), then yes.
best 20-30$ atm
its both a good and bad remake.
(letting outside insanity influence it..someone already said it, with monster alterations..ect)
For me, its also too much Bloom/post processing imo and i will be turning that down to the min/off, when i pick it up.
look for official resellers like GMG and get it for 50$
or wait a few weeks and it will be 32-41$.
If you're in no rush, or have other games to get on with right then now then there's no harm in holding off until a sale.
