So because it is an "old" game, it doesn't deserve to be $60?

The original game was from the 80s, but how is that relevant? This isn't just an upscale or a filter; this is a remake from the ground-up. I don't see how it being based on an old game makes it inherently less valuable. Do you also complain about the Resident Evil 2 Remake? Because it is a remake of an old game?

There are at least 20 hours of main story here, if you just rush through. Most normal players will get 30-40 hours out of this on their first go.

That'd be enough, but this is DQ 3. This is the most replayable DQ game out there, and so I will be playing it for years to come, for sure.

I don't get your logic at all. If you want, I can send you a Steam giftcard.

They've also stated elsewhere that the remake is going to have more content than the NES version of the game.

If you actually believe there's no difference between this and the NES version of DQ3, nobody's stopping you from doing and getting the NES cartridge and playing that instead.

Knew this topic was coming.

Have you opened a similar thread on Live A Live as well? This is a full remake, the original (especially the SNES/GBC) was +35 hours long.

Always someone broke crying they can't afford the latest remake of whatever and expecting the game to be free.

The original game is old but this isn't just the original game, a basic port, or even a graphic upscale. It's a beloved JRPG with easily 30-40 hours of content that has been completely rebuilt from the ground up including reportedly new content, story elements, and quality of life improvements to further flesh it out as a more modern release. If it was a straight port I'd agree that the price is high but from what we've seen they have gone above and beyond on this giving it the full remake treatment.

Look, would I have loved 10 or more bucks off? Yes.

But with all they have shown, DQ III is worth that price. AND they have said they will reveal new content, new story content, new class updates (That one gets me excited) so this is going to be well worth it I'm sure.

It's not an old game though. It's a complete REMAKE!

....they rebuilt the game from the ground up, and lost two of the main members behind the team. Give Yuji Horii some slack here OP.

SE fanboys hating in the comments. lol

The initial price will certainly dampen sales in the West. Game will have to compete with higher production RPGs this fall.

...Yes? Obviously that's the case. You can't slap a $60 tag on Pac-man because you make it 3D this time. The fact the same company is selling multiple Kingdom Hearts titles for less makes it doubly embarrassing.
