Is it really really worth it?
I'm sure tons of people already asked about this but... considering the price, Ive just finished dq11 (with all the achievements, what a ride), i love games like golden sun, sea of stars, etc.

Watched a few reviews and I like the graphic aspect of this game, but how long is it? Is it worth the complete price even if its not as long as dq11? I really loved the story and want to get more into the whole franchise, I also liked builders eventho that doesnt really matter since its an spinoff but... I would like to read some opinions and help me decide if this is my next game to play hahah

Thank you so much! :CURIOUSSLIME:

It's a decently-lengthed game if you're going for 100%

If the price is making you wary, you can wait to see if it goes on sale soon, otherwise I recommend it (although certain people are going to suggest installing mods, which would be up to you)

I'm not really a big fan of modding tbh, what are the mods for? I don't mind having to fight every 5 seconds or things like that if its for that, if aiming for the 100% makes it like 40ish hours at least then i'm good with that!!

Btw is the story pretty good?

Depending on how much you explore and how much of a completionist you are, it'll probably take somewhere between 30 and 50 hours. It's a very good game, but keep in mind that at its core, it's still an 8-bit JRPG, and it does not have a strong focus on an overarching narrative and character dialogue like most modern games do.

I think it's worth the price, but whether that's true for you or not is entirely subjective.

It was $63 after taxes in the NES days. They made three remakes. The core game is a classic and it's great.

This game is functional. It has some annoying bits, but they overall improved the QoL features.

They also added features that ameliorate the most boring parts of the core game by handing out small rewards for traveling the featureless overworld of the original.

The combat is inconsistent. If you know the game like the back of your hand like me, you'll find it flips from exceptionally mundane 95% of the time to thrilling 1-2% of the time. It's easy to get into and you can feel both powerful and challenged.

The overall exploration and combat experience is fun. Not too much is irritating. Oh, and this isn't a game that gets you lost in customization hell.

I just beat the basic game. Didn't 100% it or postgame yet. But it was an enjoyable experience. On top of that it ys a postgame and you can make own party, replay.

I say yes. But I also say tet tk get itv15 to 22% off. Only a cup of coffee difference with savings. But no need to psy extra. Gmg had it on sale.

The story is good for the time. This game originally came out in the 80's, so it's not going to have this huge, grand story that's a constant part of the narrative from start to end, like you might expect from a new FF or DQ game. The story is fairly simple, and side quests are almost entirely isolated.

It's still good, a story being simple doesn't make it bad, after all. But you do need to go in with some reasonable expectations as to what you're getting.
