What is the ballistic knife?

I'm playing campaign mode and delivered a laptop back to the armory. It said that the 'ballistic knife' is now available in the armory. Maybe I'm just blind, but I can't see anything called that in the armory, and a search for info on the weapon online comes back with nothing related to the game. Anyone know what this is and how you get/use it?

EDIT: Actually, what brief info I saw about the real life version is that it's essentially a knife that can be launched. So would I be correct in guessing that it just increases my melee range, and isn't actually an item that shows up in the armory?

EDIT again: Just looked at the message again and saw that it's available in the supply quad. Didn't realize there were some things only available there, sorry if I wasted anyone's time.
