I tried to drag him down to the bottom area of the map but he reset after I did about 15% of his health pool. Then when I re-engaged him he never used his abilities, I just walked around him in a circle and when it came time for that final big swarm, it never came. Boss died and I moved on.
Fire wall and kite them works well , that's what I did on normal mode
I managed to bug him, but his health kept replenishing, so had to reload on last checkpoint to reset him.
But yeah those hyenas are brutal, not only do they stack up , they can hide Rathbreaker so you can't see him at all or what he is doing. If those spears where not near the top it may be a bit easier. But yeah, guess I will just mass level and get those +12% lightning damages on the skill tree :P
They continually respawn.
I think the latest patch kinda fixed that as said above, his health will regenerate constantly when bugged at the edge of the cliff.
I will try again though :) I did manage to get him to half health doing it "normally" but the doggies are a pain >.<
Place Flamewall, Electrosphere and spam Spark.
Grab a Weapon with Spelldmg >40% and a bit ES.
rathbreaker is a DPS check, you need to have enough DPS to deal with his adds fast enough so you can deal with it before his one shot attack, sadly there is not much we can do since we dont know your build/gear, that being said...most of the time what you can work on is your weapon, if you are lacking enough dmg to deal with his adds everything boils down to gear
POE2 has multiples DPS checks, trials has dps checks act 3 has 2 dps checks back to back, there is no problem to farm a little bit and deal with rathbreaker when you fix you gear
my only hint i can give is to use any freeze ailment and/or explosive AOE dmg as soon as the hyenas start to surround you, i would bet in that firewall could do the trick, as the game progresses you will notice that you will keep changing your build, dont try to brute force it, sometimes betting in weaker gear / skills is enough to push your dps for that fight
there are even harder DPS checks in the game, rath is just one of the newbie ones
his mech is
call adds, jump, call for arrows and big hit that one shots
if you are able to deal with the adds quick enough you will have time to deal with everything else
Interesting might give that a go.
