POE2 is in trouble if GGG refuses to implement an auction house
The year is 2025. Having to manually whisper someone, assuming they are online and available in their hideout is incredibly tedious and detrimental gameplay. Same is true when I get whispered if I am busy playing the game in a map...

The game is only enhanced by the fact that currencies can be sold automatically via an auction house. The same will be true for gear pieces.

Most people have a life and can't dedicate enough time to play the game effectively on SSF and are forced to play Trade. The trade league experience should not be miserable.

Devs are already taking bunch of good ideas from other games besides POE1. Copying the system from LE would be a good start.

I know the game has other issues but this is important. Seriously, the current system was cool in early 2000. An out of game friction like trade causing people to quit your game is concerning. They've literally insinuated in interviews that an auction house type system for items will be added but they might not deliver on that promise.

I can only hope enough people complain and the devs listen before the game goes out of early access.

Can you link the interview by chance? I'd like to watch it. Pretty new PoE player, so out of the loop

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RskRFwgoQ5g

around 1:50:00 is the trade discussion.

People will no longer accept an ARPG that doesn't have instant buyouts... so therefore we'll need to change. No excuses, if players aren't enjoying something we'll need to find a way to solve that problem. So we will solve that problem

This is from literally a year ago, BEFORE there was "gold" in poe at all. he only refers to poe2 having gold, but it was added in POE1. And is used in the currency exchange which was added in july last year.

Some might think this ONLY applies to currency exchange and not trades, but if you watch the interview he refers to the exponential curve of powerful items (best items getting ridiculously expensive, lesser items valueless).

The currency exchange being in the game but NOT buy-it-now trading has only made that exponential curve happen FASTER.

gold = friction because you have to play to get it. i think it's also why waystones/maps aren't in currency exchange, because they sell for probably too much gold atm.

So now that anyone watching this is enlightened they can see how goofy (or most politely, out-of-date) some of the assertions in this thread are.

Just give us an interface identical to Currency Exhange.

List your item and a price.
Someone else sees your listing and pays for it.
Buyers can list an item they want with necessary modifiers and a price they're willing to pay for it.
Seller sees the listing, matches the required item and makes a sale.

Leave in the current trade website and manual trade systems for those that prefer it.

Boom. Done. No pissing about with whispers and hideouts.
Both sides get to trade the way they want to. Everyone wins.

And? Having automated trading that's tied to gold will only make the experience better.

POE1 and POE2 will both be improved. Because they're good games now doesn't disprove the need for an auction house.
How dare you provide a reasonable solution to an easy problem wtf is wrong with you!?!?!

Yeah. I assume it's just oldheads, devs and players alike, who suffered through during their time and now they want everyone else to be miserable.

The fact that the currency exchange works should dispel any worries about automated item exchange by here we are sadly.

They will eventually add one (in poe2) and players like you will most likely hate how they will re-balance the entire game around it. You won't be getting an AH anywhere near the ideal vision you imagine. Everything with this dev is a monkey's paw.

Sounds like the devs have general issues. Yes I agree they should probably work on those too. The difficulty of the game should never be how miserable it is to interact with basic mechanics.

That's a game design fail.
They have stated that they don't want an AH, However, they've also said that they need to modernize

Contradictory statements at best then.

They might be worried about people posting gear to the auction house to use it as storage.

Limitations or taxes would have to be applied.

They've stated not right now. Meaning the idea is floating in their company.

Not a flat no forever. That was the same statements about a currency exchange long ago and now look what happened.

The simple solution is to use existing mechanics.
When Listing an item, it wouldn't go into a pocket dimension, it would simply point to the existing item as it is present in your Premium Stash Tab and lock the item in place while it is listed.

Have you played Last Epoch?

In order to Buy or Sell items you need to have gold. And the only way to get gold is to play the game. Gold is account bound and cannot be traded.

Most of this is already in POE1 and POE2. It's just Muh Vision preventing them from enabling it for gear pieces. Even though Muh Vision was obliterated by how good and natural the currency exchange system works.

Sure, Jan.

Just like POE and Warframe. Or Diablo 4.
A what house?

Anything similar to the currency exchange system that already exists but for actual gear slots.
I prefer it this way, personally. It creates a world of trade in its own
