One Shot

I just got into the endgame yesterday with my witch. I haven't watched any build guides but I deal solid damage and haven't had any problems in the second story playthrough. I have about ~1200 HP and ~1300 Shield.

In the Tier 1 or Tier 2 maps I sometimes get 1 shotted by normal mob. I try to take cover behind my minions even more now but it still happens and it is kind annoying. Sometimes I don't even know what killed me as there are no enemies directly near me so they shot a projectile or something. (I am aware there are these death effects or whatever they are called which leave like puddle on the ground)

I can't put any more points in STR otherwise my INT isn't high enough. I would have to sacrifice minion damage for a little more health.

Are one shots common or does my build suck?

you need more resistences. far as i know chaos damage is mostly in endgame areas.

Chaos can be everywhere in maps. It can be a modifer at some rare.. it could be these holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ occult snipers.. it could be an on death explosion.. chaos is death. High chaos res is ultra important.

My witch has with LVL 75+ also around 1200 HP 500 Shield ( mostly double because Aura) and 1400 Mana ( Have Mind over Matter and 120 Mana Reg) and my Resistance are 75 75 65* (20% go to Fire) 50 with Charm..) How are your numbers. I never got oneshoot in the game so far ( except this Groto Boss...)

Ok so my resistances are ass :D -15% fire, -10% lighning, 18% cold, 0% chaos. I am not sure how to increase them. In the passive skill tree it appears to be only for my minions

thats for sure your problem.... keep gear with resistance, buy base items on vendors and craft until you get what fits you, have you got all the permant bonus resistance from the campaign ?

Get 1 day off and start searching the trade site. You can get good gear for the price of 1-3 exalts each. The problems is how long it takes to find a seller answering.

Trade tip: if an item is amazing and very cheap (like good T5+ mods going for 1 Exalt), that`s just undercutting bait. Whoever posted it has no intention of selling it, just wants to snipe items from people that don`t know the value of their merchandise and post for very low price.

When you build your character don't forget to upgrade your defenses as well! Going strictly DPS will cause you to get one-shotted A LOT when another person with good defenses can survive those blows.

So I did some trading today and now I have 51% fire, 24% cold, 23% lightning and 46% chaos resistance. It feels like my survivability increased by 10x.

Not enough, the resists should be maxed.

I am aware of that but I am only Tier 1 or 2 in the endgame. I will try to improve it while leveling up

Witch is the one of two classes who can actually survive endgame cuz they use ES. Get 20k+ ES man, wtf is that 1.4k you are talking about. That's pathetic for a witch.
