Ranged is easier than melee to play, and you can clear fast.
Huge damage and defenses, low mobility? Giantblood Ignite Warrior
Middle-line great all rounded? Mercenary
Clear half of the screen with one click while dashing through the enemies? Ice/Light Monk
Currently, Ranger and Sorceress are a little hard to play unless you get lucky with items (Ranger) or you know how to match and build something with 3 different elements (Sorc)
die is a part of the game, just enjoy what you want to play i might feel struggling sometimes like melee need to dodge a lot hit only few time than range and yes die a lot but range you not gonna miss feeling of dodging attack its kinda two way trade off but my friend just reach end game with monk on his first play with 230+ deaths
