Grind
So err... I've done everything, I'm up to a boss I need to beat to progress. Zero chance of beating him at my current level. Do I just have to walk around slaying randoms until I level up?

If you are not able to beat the boss despite trying, then yes, killing monsters to overlevel makes it a lot easier.

remember to equip gear you find, you can get some bonus stats

How does leveling actually help? Passive points? New to POE

presuming that items are capped to my level too. It's not overly enjoyable just randomly going around for an hour through areas i've already cleared :/

try different builds and gear up differently

It's a little awkward in terms of progression but I think this is the intended strategy for those having difficulty. Someone else said it very well, "The dev literally has the word Grinding in their name"

try different tactics/builds, get better flasks with increased healing time.

balance feels a bit off tbh. If I have to walk around repeating areas I've already cleared for 90 minutes...

either that or I've done something wrong with levelling / trait selection

does this look normal?

Ya just more damage on skill tree nodes. The level itself does little to nothing. Also farming means he may get better gear. But yeah, as far as leveling, just the nodes would help.

Ya it's probably a combination of skills/skill tree points not spent optimally/gear/player skill. The levels themselves won't help you that much. Patience is key in boss fights. But I'm still new too, not trying to talk down to you or anything like I know everything lol. But better dodging and reading their moves of course would help a lot. And just the synergy of your gear and skill tree bonuses with the skills you use.

You might wanna find another game then.

I feel like you were expecting a different game. Are you new to arpg's by any chance? You generally find better gear that suit the build you're rocking with. Affixes play a huge part.

You also find crafting items at any level, they're all the random stuff you find. Read the tooltips.

what level were you at when you faced/beat Geonor?
Feels like I'm shooting him with a pea shooter.

Which is exactly why this is more of an RPG or even a third-person FPS with RPG elements than a ARPG. Who the hell expects to have to grind in an area for an extended period of time before they can progress in a game with a well-defined end-game that is the actual draw?

Or... block?? Why?

Or... wear out the old dodge button... again, not really an ARPG thing. Especially not a full roll dodge that takes a full second.

They've basically made this game hard enough that it stands on its own as a game... but, it's not. It's all just pre-endgame slog material and they are making it take forever.

I really don't think they thought this through.

I'm trying to beat Geonor. I'm a level 16 witch with all level 16 or 17 items boosted a bunch, and with charms or whatever that deal with cold damage.

I don't get mana in this game. It seems to never run out? Which makes me think I might've wasted a bunch of my passive skill points on stuff like mana regen?
