PC Freezing/Crashing
Each time I try to load into a new area my PC needs a hard restart everytime. Just wondering if others are having this issue. Only happens with POE2.

First time happening, or recent thing?

If first time happening, then what CPU and GPU do you have?

yea im having the same issue. i have a ryzen 7 7800x3d with a 4070 super. i think its a POE issue and we have to wait for a fix

Nope, my old Lenovo Gaming Laptop crashed with PoE1, so i never played PoE1 :D Runs smoothly with PoE2 :DDD

Probably. Some problems with those who use Ryzen and Intel. Most likely on PoE2 side that is causing the crashing.

Lots with this issue including myself. There are some work arounds. Switching render to Vulcan or D11 worked for some but not always. Turning off Vsync. Unchecking multithreading also worked but I didnt like the way the game played when doing that. Kind of just have to mess with it until you find something thats works for you. Hopefully it gets patched soon!

Most stable fixed that worked for me to avoid having to constantly do a hard reset was---

1. Launch game to main menu
2. Open Task Manager
3.Click on Details
4.Find the POE2 exe running
5.Right click on POE and select "SET AFFINITY"
6.Uncheck CPU 0 and CPU 1
7.Now if game freezes/crashes you will be able to at least open task manager and end POE process before trying again.
8.Repeat this process every time you launch the game again :(

Good luck

Ok your PC can run it, so it must be on PoE's side with the Ryzen issue.

From what ive been reading the past few days it sounds like it has something to do with a recent windows update but who knows. It completely locks the entire PC and causes CPU load to hit 100% and 80-90'C. I just hope it gets fixed. I can hear my PCs tears falling every time I do a hard power reset.

What fixed it for me was setting the fps in background to 30 from 15, no idea why, cause each time I had to hard reset it I wasn't in another window for that to even take effect.

I have the same problem. As far as I understand it is a conflict between the game and the latest Windows 11 24h update. You need to wait for the update.
I solved this problem myself.
What I did step by step: Launched POE2 main menu. Started the Task Manager, on the left side I selected "Details" and there I found the process "PathOfExileSteam.exe", right clicked on it and there I selected "Set affinity" and disabled one item "CPU 4". After that there was no problem at all.

You should do this every time you start the game. Hope it helps someone.

i got a amd ryzen 5600x and a rtx 3080 12g 36g ram , and this is the only game so far this is happening all my drivers are up to date, cpu gets used 100% and when loading a screen just freezes my screen and keeps it that way until i am forced to reset the pc,
BushBandit Dec 8, 2024 @ 9:36pm
they've said in the "known bugs" post they're looking into it, unfortunately don't wanna play until then cause i know if my pc ends up ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because of their game, GGG ain't gonna be buying me a new one. i can run ♥♥♥♥ far more intense than this with no fkn issues it's only POE2 and almost only when transitioning to a new area.
