I love WASD
I love it! Such an improvement in the ARPG genre.

It nice to have the option. But at current state it just so much better than mouse input method so kinda forced to use it

It's fundamentally superior to mouse move.
Click to move is an ancient and inefficient control system.
It works for older titles because they're typically not mechanically complex.

I am genuinely curious how you would buff clickmove to match the movement freedom offered by WASD.

Honestly, the first time I played an ARPG with WASD was Wolcen. And ever since, I've been unable to really enjoy ARPGs that lack it.
It just feels and plays significantly better.

I tried WASD and didn't like it, and found the mouse more fluid and intuitive, personally speaking. I bound the function to stand still while attacking to a mouse button, which stops me from moving around as I fire off spells and ranged weapons, and it's perfect for me. I can still use mouse to move and the keys to fire spells, etc., so I feel I have the best of both worldfs.

Why stand still when you are attacking?

WASD feels great, I agree.

I wouldnt say superior since you limited to 8 ways movement now and they built the game around it pretty much. They just need to polish mouse input method abit more like able to stop movement and stuff.

Im using wasd myself at the moment and i dont mind it at all. Its pretty much a disadvantage not using it lol

it might be "better" but it's not PoE-centric
what made PoE so attractive was that it wasn't "like" anything else
GGG has thrown the PoE feel into the dumpster and has chosen to go after the casuals
as the game stands now it feels like just another console game, which sucks because weve all spent so much time and money on this game in the past only now to have them throw our dedication back in our faces
GGG have lost a lot of credibility imo

If I'd been told I could NOT remove "move" from MB1 I would've never bothered... literally wasting my time and MB1 as I use a keybind "W" on my kb to move. Losing my mind with this, can I get a refund?

WASD feels awkward af. I think I will have to retrain my brain to get used to it... played D3/D4 always using force move key...

Uh Ok. Doesn't make sense or help. I didn't realize this was Mavis Beacon?

Why stand still when you are attacking?

If I am firing ranged weapons, I prefer not moving closer accidentally. I move and fire if the mob gets too close.

so kinda like having wasd as movement as an isometric arpg since most of them don't do that?
also no, what made poe attractive was that it was a well-made game, not because it was a special snowflake game - objectively it is "like" a lot of other games, they're just not as good

When I first heard about WASD being added, I knew it would make ranged weapons much better. Ah... the joy of not moving towards the target any longer. Huge QoL improvement.

WASD movement isnt new to ARPG.
Sultryhag Dec 7, 2024 @ 3:21pm
I have always found force move better instead of tying up more keys I can bind skills to. WASD is okay but I prefer using a controller or force move.
