This has the added benefit of not running into potential problems from (client) patches being delayed on consoles due to certification.
Exactly
You can build a decent mini PC and get a nice controller and wireless keyboard/mouse instead :)
After steam added steam input (mapping of controllers) it's really not so difficult to play most PC games from the couch with a controller, as long as you spend some time learning the software
Might not be completely "plug and play"
But from the short ammount of time I had an XBOX, I had to trouble shoot multiple things aswell
So I don't find consoles to be that simple always either
Now that PC gets both XBOX and Playstation exclusives, getting a console nowadays is a pretty hard sell imo
or even better and way more easy: get a mini PC like beelink SER8 (or its even more powerful successor), install BAZZITE (www.bazzite.gg) on it, fire up your PS5 Dualsense or whatever gamepad you prefer and play the sh!t out of your steam library.
Pair a PS5/4 controller to it (Because they have a mouse pad) and use Steam to stream your main PC to the tiny PC hooked up to your TV.
PC master race console enabled.
edit: Steam actually used to sell a $20 device called Steam Link. Its now discontinued, but it did everything I just described but way better. I would still be using mine if it streamed higher than 1080p.
Just youtube/google how to make a Steam Link for more details.
Statistics show that people who own consoles have a low IQ or poor science education.
Seeing this comment I am a Saint.
My guy, put your wallet back in your pocket or Just give the community here $350 and we just saved you $350.
PS5 doesn't use a ZEN 2 CPU, it uses a custom architecture based on ZEN 2. In Fact CPU performance is to zen3 5800x due to the numerous SoCs that are not available on PC; And doing it with under 4ghz clocks to boot.
Some of the custom PS5 architecture bits are:
Unified GDDR6 Memory for CPU & GPU, and 2 GB GDDR5 on Pro for console tasks not related to gaming
Hardware compression/decompression PS5 doesn't have to use up to 2 CPU Cores for this task so that all the cores can be use for more important things such as FPS,
PS5 can load data directly into the rendering pipeline without having to load it into ram 1st.
You will get better FPS on the Pro compared to PS5 simply because the clocks are higher than Base PS5 and the GPU bottleneck has been removed. PS4 can't even compete. All this has been proven on CPU intensive games such as:
Dragons Dogma 2 in cities Ps5 Pro hits 60 fps
Baldur's Gate 3 Act 3 PS5 Pro hits 60 FPS
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty PS5 Pro hits 60 FPS
there are dips to below 60 FPS of course but for the most part above the VRR cutoff but 1/10% lows are better on PS5.very similar performance to a ZEN 3 5800x, you need the 5800x3D or ZEN 4+ to get noticeably better performance than a PS5.
Base PS5 hardware is better and will provide better performance and graphics than overwhelming majority of gaming PC's based on the steam hardware survey.
Close to 56% of PC gamers use 1080p resolution, 20% use 1440p, and 4% use 4K
Only 4% of PC gamers have 16 GB of Vram (PS5 has 16 GB)
Only 22% of PC gamers have an 8 core CPU and 31% have only 6 core CPU
