Path of Exile 2

Hardcore vs Softcore
Which one do you prefer and why?

Personally i joined the Hack n / genre with Diablo 2 and was playing softcore until a ingame friend convinced me to join him on hc and since then i never went back to softcore in a hack n / game.

PoE softcore gameplay even promoted better gameplay by technically giving you lifes in form of portals. Which was quite a clever system tbh.

Two of my friends stopped playing PoE... one complained about losing xp after dying, The other one kept dying in endgame without being able to figure out getting better and refused tips and help. So for the most time i played the game alone -_- (quick sidenote here, if you are looking for a buddy in hc - send me a friend request :agepip::rarestone:)

I feel bored if i can die over and over and keep on trying that's why souls like games never catched my interest. I played Dark Souls 2 on Xbox back then even though i got better i couldn't stick to it.

In POE1, sometimes you'd die without even knowing what killed you.

Playing HC in those conditions is just not possible.

If things are different in POE2 then I might consider it.

I played HC in other ARPGs.

This is probably going to be the hardest ARPG to play Hardcore in. The first Act is reasonable, but the second Act is a fairly large difficulty spike. Good luck.

Just as heads-up: If you die in hardcore, your char just becomes a softcore character, so there's no harm in starting in HC.

If you go pretty far and die you lose access to your stash though, so there's that.
Just for that charakter that transitioned to the softcore league. Your stash is still full waiting for your next hardcore char.

Not really Difficult but Painful/Unfair. Like Nihlathak snake on D2.

After more 500h playing only HC (Discover and Archnemesis pre-nerf) Pretty hard to play PoE 1 on Hardcore for many reasons (see above), especially if u dosnt want use alt-f4 cheat.

I play only on HC on other Arpg (D2, D4 BAD, LAst epoch, etc..). Now, i play softcore & HC SSFR, because if u want a real challenge go for it.
For real, if u want crush poe 1 on HC / SSFHC, etc.. U need more & more knowledge (it's not bad !!!).

For PoE 2, i dont know really. Maybe HC or Not (probably yes, but it's a difficult choice).

Started and learned the mechanics in hardcore then after many leagues, decided to play in softcore. HC economy is more like semi-ssf in leagues, you need to read map mods, and if your gateway's ping is spiking, you stop playing. One upside in playing HC is, if you enjoy doing bosses, it's easier to make a lot of currency.

Softcore. I want to enjoy the content and learn enemy moves before I give hardcore a shot.

I do enjoy hardcore though. In Grim Dawn you're forced to max out your resistances or else you'll get 1/2 shotted. Hardcore forces you to use defensive abilities and raise your defenses. So I'm interested in what PoE2 has to offer in that realm.

Have a quick brofist for knowing the difference between hack-and-slash RPGs and action RPGs.

You're a dying breed.

There is nothing to prefer in this regard.

Everybody will play softcore at start, the ones which spam hardcore only will be left behind very, very fast.

Softcore is where you can build up knowledge about the game and hardcore is the test for your knowledge and skill.
Later on HC SSF is also for races/gauntlets.

Oh there will be a lot of ppl playing HC from the start, would be very naive to think otherwise.

Playing hc when you already know all boss moves and everything about game is not hc at all.

I could not take hardcore. I already rage when I die unexpectedly in softcore. I would probably quit playing after a death in hardcore.
