Sure this game is an Action game, but we define games like these as Hack ´N Slash (ever since D1)

These type of games does not really have much RPG elements (only light) I fully understand some call them "aRPG´s" but they lack most core RPG elements.
They are HnS

Diablo 4 has more players than poe. Gotta remember POE has hella bots due to the auction house being god awful and their loot system being trash. The only good part about POE is the ability to pick any class and use any skill. However the community only uses meta and price sets and uses bots. Really you're using like 1 out of 5 skills out of 100's of skills making all the other skills pointless and probably the same gear as everyone else.

PoE is like the arcade version of dungeon crawlers like call of duty is to fps. Why do you think they throw so much shiney at you?

Still gonna play poe2 though because i like to give games a chance. Hopefully the loot isn't as bad and they make an actual auction house to combat price setters ( which they wont ). And hopefully you can actually target farm instead of everything being random or loot 20 of this card to get this one item, etc.

I know they're trying to keep their population up by forcing you to be online to trade but man.. it's 2024. Auction house time.

There are magic and projectile shooting classes in Hack ´N Slash games too.
Again.. this game is basically just an Action game.. but we call them HnS due to the old discriptor (like with the Diablo games)

aRPG´s are something they have been tried to call them in modern time.... (I reckon to get an extra tag on, well.. the RPG tag is used on 80% of all games.. its such a watered down genre)
But overall.. this game has next to nothing to do with RPG elements..

Still an awesome game and I am looking forward to this new iteration, a good Hack ´N Slash is great casual fun without all the more complex elements of RPG games.

I mean if you think about it, it's not even a compliment to be the best ARPG.

But people love to include The Room, Gollum and Diablo 4 into the ranking systems just to look better

Sorry to tell you, but most strict definitions mean nothing when the vast majority of people don't recognize them.

RPG in the mass sense has come to mean "Game with leveling system and power scaling" or "a game where story is the focus."

If you go out and ask any gamer what an aRPG is, they're gonna say "Oh a game like Diablo"

AAA devs are lazy, aloof and incompetent at the same time...a deadly combination.

The only three devs that practically copy paste everything of the old games and change color palette...come on now.
GGG, poe 2 is the carbon copy of poe 1 with better graphics and recicled seasons content, the only new thing are the simplification of everything and gave a 3d map dor the atlas, from software, 4 games literally the same with different world using same textures, Larian took divinity games and gave them better graphics and visually dice rolls here you have bg3.

The difference is that the mentioned devs completely rework or build up on the formula while never cutting content or quality.

If you look at aaa devs their games usually get way worse with each new entry.
