It's literally not closed beta. It's Early Access and they are pay-gating it.
And 6 months to a year is a laughably short timespan based on their track record.
It's early access, not closed beta.
You're fake news
Actually its not fake?
Noone is saying they cant pay for it, it's about how free game is actually a paid one. It's all about hypocricity of the developer I guess.
He right, Once early access end, there going to be a seperated league call "Early acces" where anyone who had a early access character will have their character move, THIS will be separated from the standard league. Meaning you won't be able to play your early access character with new player once early access is finish. It gona be kinda like path of exile 1 temporary league except it will not go to standard once it finish, it be completly separated and isolated. Paying 30$ won't give you 6 month in advance from other once the game it release.
Don't belive it... just read the FAQ on the official website of path of exile 2.
Will there be wipes during Early Access?
No, there will not be a wipe. We will do new leagues but none of your characters will be wiped, they will just go to a league called Early Access (so they will never be in Standard). In some cases characters in old leagues might be somewhat broken by balance changes though. After launch the "Early Access" characters will still exist.
The game will be free "On release"
Or you can pay a supporter pack for 30$, receive 30$ worth of ingame currency if you had pay them whitout a pack and receive early access.
If you want you can also pay extra for more point, with extra cosmectic added, at the end the game isn't "out" yet. Except knowledge of the game, you won't have any advantage starting before other since early access will be separated at realease.
You can just wait for the game full realease instead to play for free.
I been playing path of exile for a long time now (on the dedicated launcher)
The game is free, they moslty make money out of selling comestic and it not like your paying 30 buck just for getting early access, you get also 30$ worth of point.
I can understand it feel like a betreyal to pay 30 buck to play a "free game" but again it early access, the full game is free once it out. You don't have to "pay" for a unfinish game, you can wait to play for free the full game.
Plus, everything you purchase as long your account is linked to the platform your going to play poe 2, will work, soo comestic, tab and other stuff from Path of exile 1, will work "If possible" in path of exile 2, in EA some comestic won't be availiable right off the bat.
Yes, getting the coins is additional incentive for you to pay.
GGG is being generous by offering early access to PoE 2 for $30, along with $30 worth of in-game currency which covers stash tabs. The devs goal isn’t to push more spending but to fairly reward early supporters with extra perks. Plus, the full game will be free, so it’s a way to support the game while getting extra value, making it a win for players.
I would call it smart and money hungry but for sure not generous :D.
PoE 2 is free-to-play, and this early access is just a way to support development, no one is forcing anyone to buy it. Unlike other games charging full price for an unfinished product, this is an optional way for players to support the game and get extra perks in return. :)
Yup noone is forcing, but don't worry, devs and marketing team knows very well how FOMO works ;).
What really marketed this game was its design and the quality of its content, which made everyone want to play it. The game didn’t rely heavily on traditional marketing, its reputation and appeal grew naturally because of how good it is
