Is Poe 2 free?
Page is a bit confusing. Does early access cost money and then its free on launch or is it free when its out and the supporter packs are just like a microtransaction.

early access cost money.

game will be free once it releases in 6-12 months hopefully.

Yep, Early Access costs $30, and gives you $30 in store credit to spend on the game. When it goes live after EA, it will be 100% free.

Also keep in mind if you like ARPG's the supporter packs with currency are great, and any purchases carry over to PoE 1 & 2. So you can buy stash tabs and use them in both games.

Basically if you like PoE 1, then you will almost certainly love PoE 2.

Path of Exile 2 will be free to play at launch. Early access requires purchasing a supporter pack, which is a form of microtransaction. After launch, the game is free, with optional in-game purchases.

It will be free when it officially launches.

On Dec 6th is EA and only accessible if you purchase a supporter pack. In the FAQ it explains EA will run at least 6 months. It may run longer.

EA will take some time , maybe 6 months or a year .
If you want to play early , just pay 30$ .

Reading replies from the sales reps to posts like these made me realize there's nothing more important in life than to spend your $30 on points and stash tabs (on a game advertised as free-to-play)

The base game is free yes, there are packs starting at 30$ reaching up to 480$ each pack gives early access while the whales pack has 5 extra keys of early access. Which- if you want to play before the full release around July 2025 I would recommend you entire a few of the giveaways that are on the forum threads to gain the early access.

Every dollar you spend on the pre-order ends up as money to buy with the In-game currency. If you care that much about cosmetic items that is. All-in-all its up to you, if it is F2P.

It is free to play. You can play all of the game's content, from beginning to end, without spending a single penny.

But you can optionally pay for convenience and cosmetics. Since the former actually affects the gameplay loop, it's the one everyone recommends.

It's not free if you want to play for the foreseeable future. You have to pay to become a beta tester, lol.

It's a backwards time we live in.

You haven't played POE 1 at all, huh?

I'm guessing.. 3 years. Generous estimate considering how long it took POE 1 to actually be "completed" even though they just mirrored the second half of the game and used all the same maps.

Company is in a vastly different place now versus then though. Would be interesting to know staff size today vs back then.
