Path of Exile 2

Just tried to play D2R
It's all so antiquated. Obviously it's a game from 2000, but the genre hasn't moved past D2 in a meaningful way. Same thing for Titan Quest, D4, and Last Epoch. Been chomping at the bit to play more PoE2, and so I've been cycling through arpgs. Nothing feels as good. I think this game is a true evolution of the genre in a way we've never seen. The combat and movement are just so good. For a long time, for me, D2 has been the peak. Nothing has really innovated or improved enough for me to say they're better than D2. PoE2 is likely going to change that very soon.

Disagree with Titan Quest.

This game is purely awesome, especially the various environments (Act III is the best), and the music.

The only flaw of TQ is the lack of endgame content.

I never said it was bad. It's a good game, but it doesn't innovate on the genre in a meaningful way.

Fair enough.

Sure, I agree. D2 is the best arpg - in a world where PoE2 doesn't exist.

PoE was the real D3. Hopefully PoE2 gonna be the real D4.

I love D2R,D2R overall, and the graphics are my second favorite after Poe2
Poe 1 is the evolution of D2 and Poe2 is the evolution of Poe1
D2R is great but it's and old game , I would play a mod like PD2 is it would work in D2R

I would argue that PoE barely made any meaningful changes to the genre either, other than a focus on endgame. The overall gameplay loop is just D2. To me, PoE2 represents what D3 should have been.

I gotta say the juxtaposition of "pringles" with the biblical-sounding "John" creates a very off but yet familiar tone!

If PoE2 came out in 2012 it'd have been like one of those insane Ocarina of Time or World of Warcraft moments in gaming, there's no way it would have been possible.
Dark Souls had just came out and it took many years before the influence of that game germinated in the industry enough to push action games forward, then GGG had to develop PoE for 10+ years to learn everything and eventually assemble the studio that would be able to make PoE2.

But at least it's finally here. You're right in that this is the evolution of the genre. In a lot of ways it's the ARPG genre catching up with the rest of the action genres in video games.

Played it when it released. Completed the campaign but got bored after. Yes it's dated. From all points of view.

I played it at release aswell. Then blizzard decided to do 1 week rollback without single word or compensation. The easiest game quit i ever had.

You're saying that like most of the ideas from POE didn't come from D2.

Stop, really.

There's nothing that amazing that came out of POE nor ground breaking. It's a good game that scratches the ARPG itch. Now we have D4 also that scratches it in a different way.

It's always good to have options so don't pigeonhole yourself out of the other games because you're having a fan moment over POE.
