did you try the usual? like compatibility mode with XP, running as admin, updating video card drivers and directx, and verifying game cache

I'll do it on monday. I'm on a Dell M4800 at work (where the game doesn't start) but at home on my custom desktop it works fine with 2 Xbox 360 Usb controllers. I can't figure this out. But it will have to wait until Monday.

Tried all of that 5M0k1N... Nothing works, just tries to start up and disappears. This is crazy, I can play Ultra Street Fighter 4 and Final Fantasy 14 all just fine... but this...

no idea but it has something to do with controllers. as you can see the error is it couldnt find a file and that error came up during the function DirectInputGamepad.ReloadGamepads()
maybe try reinstalling any gamepad software you have if any? but no idea :/

I'll try that, need to find the xbox 360 controller software I guess.

Dev, if you can see this, I have uninstalled all controller software, restarted my machine, put in compatibility mode, I have a simple Dell wireless keyboard and mouse in one usb slot and that's all. I can play this game on my desktop running windows 8.1 Pro x64 with 2 USB Xbox 360 Controllers with no special treatment. All other games on THIS laptop run fine EXCEPT Aces Wild. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I have a Dell M4800 Running Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64. Is there any information you need from me to help me fix this issue? An update I may have missed? Please provide some assistance.

The dev does not routinely follow this forum. Email him at his web site.

I did that as well, but thanks for the information.

Wow, made a little progress. Took the steam files from my 8.1 Pro home desktop and copied them to my 8.1 Ent laptop and the game loaded up. I actually see "Loading resolution 1680 x 1050" Slide down the screen but it stops then edges back up one notch and the game crashes again. I then looked in the data files and noticed there were two files, controls.awx and settings.awx that were there that weren't in the original folder. I copied the settings file over, and boom the original installation finally got the same started, but crashes in the same fashion. Copying the controls.awx file over did nothing for me, but this settings file actually got the game to boot and not just die in task manager... Now to get past this point.....

does your laptop support that resolution btw?
Ro Apr 10, 2015 @ 3:04pm
It supports it on the laptop and also on the 1920x1080 monitors I have it hooked up to.

Yeah man, it's killing me. Luckily it's the weekend, so I can play it here, just can't at work.

So has anyone found a fix yet? I haven't played this in almost 6 months and I want to badly. :( WIndows 8.1 Pro

None that I've seen... sorry. I actually gave up on it. I just play on my desktop now since it works. You not gonna make that Windows 10 jump and see if that helps? lol
