base items for runewords while early leveling

hi. so im playing ssf hc, and im starting to feel much less tanky and much weaker, so it's prolly time to upgrade to some runewords. how do i find white bases for them tho? i have a huge abundance of runes, but it seems ill have to sit down and grind for a single white sword w the right amount of sockets, which kinda doesnt seem optimal.

could i reset shops in towns for that purpose? i've been doing that, haven't seen anything w more than 2 sockets. and i'm not talking something enhanced, pre-existing stats, etc. - anything would be fine.

is the recipe for sockets via hell runes a good way or is it a bad idea for something im gonna replace?

Either get lucky or buy the base/item in the market at act 3. If you're using a sword u can do demon slayer mule to get an early malice. But if ur farther in then skysong would be a better choice(as a 2hander)

yeah, im looking for a 1h for a skysong rn, and a 3 socket shield. ty for your inputs. guess ill just have to pray to rng. thats annoying, i dont see any items being 4 socket almost ever.

There's also a crafting recipe to add sockets to an item. 2xHel Runes and 1 P Gem. Once per item, so that'll give you some extra chances.
