Verification failed?

So it's been about a year since I've last played. I'm trying to play a online game but whenever I put my log-in info in, it keeps saying 'steam verification failed'. I had no problems logging in last time I played so what's the problem now? How do I fix this issue?

Edit: Well after several attempts it finally let me log in. No clue what the problem was. For anyone else running into this issue, all I can say is to keep on trying until it lets you in.

This happens occasionally to me in multiple games. Usually restarting steam, or running steam as admin fixes it right up. Just make sure you close steam entirely, not just close the interface window. Make sure steam is out of the system tray before you restart it.
