Are you using 4G internet connection?

Nope. I'm connected from a desktop computer over 5Ghz wifi, with at least 100-200mb/s connection. I don't have any connectivity issues anywhere (eg; packet loss).

Also; Here's a desktop recording, https://streamable.com/n0wr5 see how it just comes up straight away? I don't even get to the user/password prompt anymore.

Most likely something is blocking your access to the server. Either firewall, internet or your antivirus program.

My friend had a smiliar problem with other game while using 4G connection. He actually had to send them a message and ask to "unlock" his connection. Then he was able to play the game.

Can't promise that method will work with you, but it's a possibility.

Also try running the game as admin

Well i am using Linux, i don't have any antivirus, and hero seige is already port forwarded with iptables so i could host matches on hero seige previously.

But running the game as root probably isn't a good idea... i doubt it would change anything.

I allow this through my firewal:
$IPT -A tcp_inbound -p TCP -s 0/0 --destination-port 6510 -j ACCEPT
But this is only for hosting server? I don't need to port forward just to login do i?

Well it is certainly something to do with the Linux build of the game, are other Linux users getting this problem?

I loaded the game through Wine/PlayOnLinux using the windows version and it had no issues, showing the login screen and everything worked there.

Game on our Linux laptop works just fine. Most likely there are some settings blocking your access. This is a tricky one

The weird thing is, if i launch the windows version of the game through Wine/PlayOnLinux, i can log in fine and get to the lobby. So its not firewall issues from my computer/router.

Hey, I know it's been 5 years, but have you been able to solve this? I'm having the same problem now trying to run it on Linux.
The sole difference is that the message I get tells me to "enable steam overlay and try again" instead of "restart steam and try again", but I'm guessing they just updated that string.

P.S.: Steam overlay is enabled and working just fine...
