Red Widow Invasion quest is purely impossible
How to defend against snipers who can attack from 4 - 5 grids away from you and everytime you get close they just push you away. Not to mention there are 7 - 9 of them per wave. The machines they provide takes years to builds even then, they attack slow and only one enemy at a time (its not even instakill).

The only sensible way to clear this, is to either skip it entirely and comeback with later gear or with more people on your side or even just use cheats. BAD DESIGN ALTOGETHER.

I did it with just Darion and Selene on Nightmare, so it is not impossible ;). But it was for sure a challenging fight and one where I had to use some consumables.

To be a bit more helpful, try to exploit their elemental weakness and make sure your gear and weapons are up to date (shuffle during crystal merging until to get the right stats).

About the strategy I used mainly Darion as a dps and Selene mainly as support. I started each wave sending Darion away and then retreating slowly towards the turrets.

PS: I cannot stress enough, especially on higher difficulties, how much difference it makes to mix max the equipment and always craft the newest weapons.

Im only playing on hard so it can be way different to you...
First time i perished. Thing is, we are conditioned to just roll over everything so far, not only that but i waited for the enemy.
So the second time i was more active, with both characters try to go kill the enemy, not only that, start from the sides. When only 1 monkey is left on each wave try to heal if you still have itens.
Last but not less important, they attack the machines a lot, so construct one each wave that will help you for some time. Good luck you can do it

The turrets actually hit a nexus not just individual monkeys, and the monkeys tend to start out grouped together. I suggest you use area of effect attacks like earth rift for selene, and fire bombs for daryon, while building your turrets as close to their spawn points as possible.

Sure, Sure, use fire bombs. Till I finally reach the grid the widows reside, they push me aways and start spamming, so NO fire bombs. Can NOT use earth rift as they spam Selene death b4 I reach the required nexus. Can build only turrets on first wave- 2-3 of them. And not a single one more. Turrets shoot by random mechanics. On one save game they wipe 2-3 pods, second save game they just sit and explode. And finally when I reach 3rd wave I have no more HP, no consumables and no MP. What a fun challenge.

And what do you mean by keeping gear updated? Only reasonable Armor I can find is with Nekaroos in the ground. All the crafting recipes for weapons and armor for Selene\Daryon are garbage, except 1 lvl 30 weapon per Selene\Daryon.(Done all side quests till Heretics Trail)

The first time I encountered this, I concluded that it was impossible given my level and equipment at that time. So I did what one usually does in RPG's: I passed it up and came back later and succeeded with a stronger party and better equipment.

I beat it blind on my first try, but it wasn't easy. I had some fire bombs on Daryon that I'd equipped for a quest, which helped a bit. The key for me was not rushing groups of them. They tend to spread out as they move towards the wall. So I stayed out of the center and picked off the isolated ones on the edges first, and also used the turrets to tank some of the damage. I tried to have Daryon's Dodging Stance up when it looked like he was going to be attacked by more than one. Selene is pretty vulnerable to them so you have to be cautious with her using her offensively. I used her mostly for healing.

It's definitely the hardest fight in the game though, even harder than the final boss. The difficulty isn't even close to be being balanced in line with the rest of the game. If you're having trouble I'd probably just wait til you get your third character.

I made Darion as the Speedster/off-tank and Selene was mostly healer. Both of them with mana potions (mostly for selene) and focusing on keeping people alive and killing units quickly. Also, food focusing on Defense to ensure you minimize damage received (+20% HP/Def -15% damage helped a lot).

Darion usually is so fast with MAX SPEED items that he can do 2-3 turns before any other enemy, and some of his attacks are AoE (not many), so that helped cleaning stuff.

You could wait until third character joins team since the person attacks in an AoE, but I do think the enemies shouldn´t be able to snipe you to death from a range that you cannot retaliate against.
