Quest: Tough Love
In my playthrough the NPC did not give the character the sword whatsoever, rendering the quest undoable. Anybody knows how to fix it?

I'm having the same problem. I got the quest but did not get the sword :(

Same, I have the problem as well. Either I do not have the sword in question, or the quest itself is bugged

Hello, sorry to hear that you have problem with the quest.
For now due to the delayed patch you won't be able to complete it. But you're supposed to have the Arkadian Steel Sword in your inventory. Can you confirm that you don't have it?

I do have it indeed but all the guides I found online show that the sword I should use is Wildfang Sword. I tried doing the last Uralik quest using the Arkadian sword (the mob was tough enough for the q requirement I assume) but it didnt work.

Yeah we changed it recently because wildfang is the name of the blade you can loot. To make that blade easy to distinguish we decided to change its name. (We will proceed to some text changes for the quest objectives in order to understand better what to do)
Thanks for your feedbacks!

I got the Arkadian Steel Sword in my playthrough, but I'm not seeing any counters when I attack an enemy in battle

Thanks for the clarification.

I also have the Arkadian steel sword. The issue isnt so much quest clarification but the fact that there is no strike counter or anything that indicates the quest is making progress during a fight.

I did this quest yesterday (before the patch) so I don't know if its still relevant now that they've "fixed" it, but the issue is that the "counter" is actually a bonus objective for the fight. Which doesn't show up for every fight, making this quest an exercise in frustration.

The keys are:

1) Equip the Arkadian Steel Sword.

2) Make sure that the "Tough Love" quest is the one being tracked. (** Not sure if this is required in order for the bonus objective (point 4, below) to proc, but it might be so I wouldn't recommend skipping it.)

3) Find either a single powerful enemy or a largish group of normal enemies. Basically an encounter that will take a lot of hits to dispose of (assuming Daryon is doing all the attacking). Best choices I found are either the Big Oroko west of the Prisoner's Camp (if you are hankering for a tough enemy) or there is a group of six Orokos of various types to the west of the entrance to the city, north of the tabernacle (if a large group of weaker foes is more your dish of tea).

4) THIS IS THE PART THAT IS POORLY (OR NOT AT ALL) EXPLAINED. When you start the fight, check the bonus objective - if its not one to hit enemies 8+ times with the Arkadian Steel Sword then you are wasting your time, you can't progress the quest this battle. This bonus objective is the "counter" that has been mentioned a few times. The correct objective showing up is fairly rare (for me it seemed to be only about 10% of the time).

Its the fourth point that makes this quest so annoying. It basically comes down to:
- find an appropriate group and save nearby
- engage the group
- check the bonus objective
- if not the right one run away, reload, try again
- do this until the conditions are all correct, then fulfil the objective to advance the quest.

I suppose of course that, instead of running away, if objective isn't right you could beat the fight and move away/come back/try again, but that would be much more time consuming.

Personally, I think the devs should change it so that, as long as the quest is being tracked then EVERY fight should have the correct bonus objective. Maybe that's what their "fix" did, I haven't gone back to check. It would remove a lot of the frustration factor and complete confusion as to what exactly needs to be done.

I can confirm all the point above, and I will add my experience since I have finished the quest after the patch.

The subtle requirement was mentioned in the quest, which is "tougher" opponent/ enemy. I never think about it really until I saw it with my own eyes.

After the patch, I try several mobs and mob groups, but I did not get the side combat objectives hit 8 times with the arkadian steel sword. I repeat this around 7 times until it hits me, maybe the mobs are lower or same level with me. So i try to find mobs that actually higher then me by 1 level, and boom, I got the objectives hit 8 times with the arkadian steel sword.

I suppose you need to find a higher level mob for this quest.

I do agree the quest explanation is rather vague.
