[Minor SPOILERS] On the sexuality thing
Before buying, I'd like to know more about this aspect of the game, since, judging by the description of the main characters, "sexuality" will be a major thing to at least one of the playable characters. Is that right?

If so, how much influence will the players have over this aspect of the game?

I post this with no intention to bring havoc and make people debate or anything, it's just that this is something that some people enjoy, and some people do not. I'm more prone to the "do not" group, but I completely understand that this may appeal to some players. For instance, "Masquerada" has one such a character (he being homosexual is important to the plot and everything) and honestly, I didn't like it.

Granted, sexuality is not really detailed in the description. Does it mean sexual option? Is she accused of being promiscuous? What does the "conservative organization" mean in this context?

I do like some "romance" in my games - but...

I don't mind being somewhat spoiled about this, I'm looking for some spoilers (or at least some overall vision on the subject).

I think it's refreshing to play a game like this and not have fanservice shoved in my face. Star Ocean got really bad with that in my opinion. I know girls are still a minority when it comes to playing this genre, but the number is growing and I like having options withough giant boobs jiggling around every battle and the girls gasping like they're in a porno every time they're hti.

What if the story is great and the game's mechanics are solid?

What if there are game out there with a great story, solid game's mechanics and fanservice.
I'll put my money and time in those instead of this one.

That's fair, I just feel like you're missing out and I find that unfortunate. That, however, is my opinion and you are free to play whatever you enjoy.

hey guys so id like to know, are any of the main characters, people that come along in your party are gay? or are all of them het? are you forced into any romances during the game? thanks!

Some people are gay. Get over it

I don't get this question, I am playing on chapter 6 atm and have not found anything of sexual nature in the game that might even be close to relevant.

Obviously, the answer is a spoiler:
The story EOE contains a young woman from a main character's (male) past that is in "love" with him. The Prologue and latest chapters have cut scenes that explain their relationship (along with the rest of the game's plot). Other than that, relationships seem to be completely based on family, camaraderie, and/or necessity for survival.

Hope this helps. As the devs stated, the romance discussed is simply part of the story and character (plot) building. So far, there have not been any choices that impact relationships in any way-the story is pretty much fixed without players overriding it.

Maybe it is an issue with our society and not exactly with this game.
But i find it also kind of annoying, that almost every new game addresses these topics. Statistics say that up to 4% of people overall have been homosexual in life, it doesn't even include, that some are bi sexual and may also have a regular relationship as everyone else.
I don't have any prejudice about it at all, but i don't like that it is such a big topic in so many games, it just doesn't feel realistic at all. If it so rare in real life, than why it is so common in films and games?
Is there any rule, that says every game needs to show of as very open and tolerant?
Honestly, i don't need content like that in games. It is fine enough to know, that it exists in life. I don't need to be reminded by games and movies over and over again.

to be fair, i feel the same way about watching het scenes in games...like, it's a game, just make it so you can choose what you wanna do it cant be that hard. also there's studies that show that non-hets could be as many as 10-15% (so i think the truth will be someone in the middle). but thats still a lot of people and there's so many games where the entire world is het ONLY. im playing witcher 3 and the entire world is het and every one you meet. its not realistic at all. im also forced to play as a het character with kissing and sex scenes that i cant get out of of...ive got no problem with hets, but its a video game, just make it so we can all choose. every single game from my child hood (and i literally mean every.single.one) was hets only with not a single gay person in existence (and this was in rpgs with scores of characters)
I think developers should just develop the games they want. If they feel the story would be improved by having different sexualities in the game, then they should go for it. If they don't feel it would improve anything, then don't. They don't "need" to be in games.

Sometimes the people making a game are telling a specific story that is in their heads. They should tell it the way it they want it to be. If they ask for input from the forums or the game is specifically centered around the player making any and all the choices then the options should be in there... up to a certain point.

Edge of Eternity isn't a 1:1 comparison to Earth. It doesn't have to have all of the options that we have because it's fiction. Crap... they could all be talking rocks that don't have sex at all and the babies come falling out of the sky. This isn't a thing people should be hung up about. If this doesn't appeal to you or a game "needs" to have non-straight people in it, then spend your money elsewhere. It's honestly as simple as that. Everyone votes with their wallet in some fashion or another every single day. Games are no different. I don't buy Mario Party games because I generally despise them. That's more for the next Monster Hunter Stories game...

Yeah, I have spent my money elsewhere (that's the reason I did not buy the game to this day). It is just that I have to know it is there so I can chose. It is like that LGBTQ+ tab on Netflix (a service I don't hire, buy hey, credit where credit is due), I could just skip any movies marked with that tag on it (and I do check that before watching a movie because nowadays everything is about sex and sexuality, this is a modern day obsession that may end up destroying our western civilization as it has done to other civilizations in the past, but I digress). If I was into it I could simply look for movies that do have this tag on, so I like this kind of feature.

What made me concerned about something overtly sexual being in this particular game was that there was a description in the Kickstarter page of a playable character to be added somewhat later in the game whose story involved she overcoming prejudice from a conservative organization (the bad guys) and so on. The game being in development means I have no idea where they are going with it, so only the devs can really give any answers about it, at least for now (I am looking forward for reviews after the game is released, I don't want to deal with Masquerada and virtue signalling stuff in a game ever again).

I'm all for the devs doing whatever they want with their games, as long as they tell me beforehand so I can vote with my wallet - which is something I always do. Edge of Eternity looks promising, but that description still intrigues me to a degree I will delay the purchase of the game.

To sum things up, devs may do whatever they want with their games, as long as they are really, really, really transparent about it.

wait, so you dont buy a game just because there might be a non-het character or non-het romance? i mean there's a thousand times more het characters in any game.... if we were to avoid games that have a het in it, we wouldnt be able to play anything...

I guess I missed that myself. I'm a more right-leaning myself, but there are so many things that misrepresent almost anything close to leaning right or right itself that I've come accustomed to ignoring it as long as they aren't making blanket statements and it feels ham-fisted in so the devs can make their real life politics known. At this point all I can do is hope that it continued to be as fun as what it was when I finished the first chapter. I've been waiting for it's completion before I jumped into it again.

Thank you for this comment as I was about to buy the game but this might be a dealbreaker for me.
So I would love to read the devs comments on that character to be added later.

I'll wait for the clarifications before either buying or putting the game on my ignore list.
