We won't spoil anything, obviously. But sexuality will be only alluded to. No scene. Some comments will take into account the fact that the characters are expected to have/or have known such encounters if their age, general experience of the world and attitude might suggest they had. (Like most people would, given their context.)
It will be mostly sidelines in the life of the characters. The obvious reason behind this is consistency, obviously.
When it comes into relation with romance, the characters have their own predisposition, mindset, preferences - and giving the player a choice in a character's relationship would be some kind of override. Here, the relationship will be important for the characters involved, and there is a reason why it happens in such a way - especially regarding their character arc.
And the disclaimer on the store page confort my opinion that there won't be much more saucy content in the final version.
I think I'll pass on this one, I'll stick with japanese J-RPG, they now how to please their audience despite a constraining rating system.
Was this game ever a J-RPG though? Was it developed in Japan?
Nope, the developers are from France. It's an RPG inspired from JRPGs, but it's not a JRPG.
And Like Japan, France is a country that isn't shy about nudity and sexuality. At least when they are not trying to please anglo-saxons puritans.
And here we have a J-RPG, a genre that commonly uses fanservice, from France, a country that isn't shy about nudity and sexuality, and yet it's prude.
At the same time, if that's the main reason you play JRPGs or RPGs in general, then that's fine too. People like different things. However, not every game needs it.
I know we're on the discussion about JRPGs and non sexual stories maybe being a little prude. But I feel something like this would separate EOE from the likes of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. It would make EOE a game, that rewards creativity and experimentation, rather than walking down a hallway and watching some fan service.
What if there are game out there with a great story, solid game's mechanics and fanservice.
I'll put my money and time in those instead of this one.
Typical prude reaction :
Sexuality is immature until it's really there, then it's "think of the kids".
And who spoke of coitus (except you of course), I said fan-service.
Though there will be romances, sexuality is not a selling point for Edge of Eternity.
The main characters aren't prude when it comes to sexuality (they are, with one exception, at least 21 y/o), nor they won't talk about it all the time. They will do so only when the situation warrants it. Characters will occasionnally make a comment or allusion about the topic, but it won't be shoved in everyone's face.
The characters won't be acting as horny teenagers just as much as they won't blush every time they talk to some they find desirable.
The heroes' main preoccupation is finding a cure to a world-threatening disease, and though this won't prevent them from behaving like normal human beings (with everything that goes with it, including romance), they will nevertheless behave as people desperately in search of a solution to a big, big problem.
I hope this helps clarifying the matter. :3
