so why can i run PC games through a VM without any performance issues? My M3 Max with 36 gb or ram and a GPU equivalent to a 3080 shouldnt be an issue...
It is simply not worth the time, effort and investment to support it most likely.
MacOS breaks often in games that do patching a lot and add stuff.. it is a very restrictive system.. Don´t get me wrong, MacOS is great for many things, but it is not really a good choice if you game a lot.
Unless you are on ARM, you could bootcamp.
No, we don’t have any plans for native MacOS support. The game will however be available for Mac players to play via NVIDIA's GeForce NOW cloud gaming service.
From the official site for Planet Coaster 2 (FAQ)
Said the exact same thing, and got my comment deleted. Macs are garbage people, stop paying for overpriced, underperforming hardware. You are only paying for ewaste.
Not with only 1.30% of the Steam community using that platform it isn't. The development costs of a native Mac port would be more than Frontier would make back in sales.
That's what most likely happened with the original Planet Coaster, money spent on a Mac port that was never recouped. Hence no Mac version of Planet Coaster 2.
I see it happen all the time, not just with Mac games, all games in general have this issue.
If a game doesn't make back it's development costs on a platform, then a sequel doesn't usually appear on that platform. Heck I've even seen some games not get an update for the same reason.
Everybody who bent the knee and got a "new normal" RTX 3000 or 4000 is nervously twisting in their seats.
It is not about them not being capable, it is about the fact that only a tiny minority of costumers use Mac OS (On steam it is 1.30% as I wrote earlier) couple that with how much extra cost and work time they have to pull off, now factor it that it will break on every single patch..
Mac OS is just not very good for gaming, it is extremely awesome for many other things.
You can install Mac, Linux and Win OS on any system you want to (unless we talk about ARM systems)
When you buy a product, you know there will be limitations.
In a perfect world, everything worked together and on anything.. but we don´t live in a perfect world.
If the game sells well and is a great success then down the road, we most likely might see them include a version (then there will be less patches as well) to fanplease the under 1%
Enjoy gaming on your Macbook /s. Maybe not so much this game :-)
