Building a top-hat with Outamax - Problem / BUG?

I try to build a top-hat and want to use the track parts like ascending roll etc... the editor won't let me build. When I insert the top-hat element the editor does not let me add any other elements. :-(

How to I use the pre-built track pieces like top-hat or the other pieces lke ascending screws etc.?

Is there any video or explanation? I tried to google but failed :-(
