How the heck do you add scenery to a coaster???

In Planet Coaster 1, we had a handy grid that would come up so we could build station buildings on our coasters. I have been searching for the last HOUR and cannot find a single tutorial that shows how to do this in planet coaster 2. No matter how many times I try to customize a ride with the add scenery button / sub menu whatever... I NEVER see the damn grid... only for buildings. HOW? Why is this so damn hard????

its all a pain.. that part was about 70% ready to go live... all the building really. UI is nuts.

So if you want to build stations, 'attach scenery to coaster' is not your button. In the most right (or second to last) there is a button: allign scenery to station/coaster and then you have your normal grid.
The attach scenery button is just for coaster train design and this is of course grid less
