The UI looks quite the same, although it has had some changes to help console players that want to play the same game. I can hope PC2 PC players will get some love though.
Some people like to complain, and while their opinion is valid, it's mostly to themselves and like minded people. They don't know any better. All new games must be flops, and terrible because HOW COULD THEY NOT JUST MAKE IT A DLC. (some people don't understand game engines and how things work with each other). Nothing stops you from going back and playing PC1 either.
The game is refined to play better, and I am enjoying it as well. PC1 had 8 years of updates or so. This one has only been out barely 24 hours. Things take time, and all games release with bugs.
But then, I also agree that there is much nonesense in them, I've seen for example comparisons with Cities Skylines II and just think to myself, whoever writes something like that has no clue about BOTH games!
Compared to Cities Skylines 2, the launch of Planetcoaster 2 went 10x better, at least the game runs quite decently on most computers.
Okay, I still play around with the tools mostly for now, testing things, so I only had smaller parks for now, but my frame rate is at least rarely below 100, with Cities Skylines 2 you were lucky if it held 15+ stable, with an RTX 4080.
most reviews are focused on content that they feel is required in the base. Or focused on them feeling too limited on some aspects of the game, low workshop limit, guest limit, etc.

The water slide stuff is super janky and limited.
it's baffling there were so many good critic reviews, but I guess it makes sense that this game is ok in a world where PC1 doesn't exist, which these reviewers clearly never played.
