How to make a pitch black room?
I've been trying to make a pitch black room for a dark ride. the best I have been able to do is shaded. I've tried pulling the building into the ground, putting 2 roofs on it, a floor, double (even triple) walls. I can't find anything online about how to do it.

I think its based on size so you might need to make small show buildings rather then massive show buildings

Are you sure you got the shadowing on properly. I had to change some settings to even see fully dark rooms as my game was not set for them by default. Once I went in there and changed the settings related to shadows, bam...instant darkness. I don't need to double up walls or sink underground. Though I will say the roof pieces can let light leak in around the edges if I just use a single layer sometimes. But I like that because it gives a great carnival dark ride look, just like real life ones where they always have holes that let the light stream in ruining everything...lol. It's perfect!

I turned Ambient occlusion and Shadows on high and it really didn't do anything. It's night time and I can still see inside my room. It's not very big it's only 4x4. I put the walls together double layer and the roof is a little bit apart but it doesn't seem to really be doing anything it's acting like PC 1.

Is Global Illumination turned on? That is the setting needed for dark rides but it uses ray tracing which means it's performance heavy.

There there is a lot of false advertising on the games store page it’s really sad. I wish everyone could play it but they’ve said a bunch of lies

That's really unfortunate that was the thing I was most looking forward to with this game and I can't even do it until i get a new graphics card.:yokuslugrage:

Isn´t the 2070 super ray-tracing compatible? I can´t activate global illumination as the software says that ray-tracing is not available. So - no pitch black rooms expect at night time

I can't turn on global illumination. I have a nvidia gtx 1660 TI which according to what I have read supports ray tracing. Any ideas ?

It’s not the game’s fault that some people have outdated rigs in 2024. Just saying.

Okay, nobody is blaming the game. We were trying to figure out something as no video online had any information on it. No need to sit up on your throne looking down on people. Just saying.

Of course not, nobody is blaming the game.

It's Frontier's fault.

I was able to have full dark interiors without ray-tracing/global illumination by building with black plaster (walls and floors for ceiling) and turning the game into night. I couldn't manage to do it at day, but at least is completely pitch black. I didn't need to put double walls. I don't know if it works with other materials.

If you have a RTX graphics card but not able to turn on Global Illumination, try updating your NVIDIA driver and see if Global Illumination is an option after you update.

I have integrated AMD Radeon, not the best one.
