I can't seem to be able to go in online mode. Can't create profile, can't do anything.

I had the same issue, I restarted and it was fine.

Check your firewall settings.

disabled firewall settings. Restarted game 3 times. Restarted PC. Still showing disconnected.

OK, I was able to get something done on it. I clicked on workshop, which was the first time it asked me to link my account. Then it allowed me to change my profile, etc.

Same thing happened to me. No idea what made it suddenly work. Everything online related was grayed out for my first hour playing. Even operating in a park, I couldn't click the workshop. All online features not working. Maybe the Frontier servers are just packed today. All the sudden the options just became available to me while I was in and out of the main menu editing my graphics settings and I had to link my Frontier account. Once linked, everything online was good. Working now.

I have the same issue -- disconnected. I never bothered with "get a free hat" offer in the original PC so maybe i don't even have an account with Frontier. I just don't remember if I created one or not 10 years ago. But I am able to play Franchise, see my friends and receive new outfits in PZ just fine without (?) a Frontier account. I also have my items in workshop for both games. So, do i have an account or not??????? No clue.

I simply don't understand how all this works. Am I going to be cut off the major online features because i don't remember if I ever created an account? The "link to" prompt seems useless because I now use exclusively my Apple ID/email address and not an email I might have used when PC was released a decade ago.
Sure, i can create a new one (I think?) but would it even recognize the other Frontier games I own on Steam? I really hate the third party launchers and similar stuff. Nothing but trouble.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

it is not letting me create a decent password. I have tried even the toughest from other programs but it is only letting me use totally random letter number combos that i will never be able to remember.

You shouldn't be using a password you can remember anyway. You should be using something like Bitwarden that will generate complex passwords and save them in a vault that you access with one complicated password you do remember and 2-step authentication.
