DENUVO = NO BUY
it's ok to add denuvo if publisher wants to but this particular publisher never removes denuvo from old games, planet coaster 1 and jurassic world evolution released in 2018 still have denuvo DRM.
Capcom removes denuvo from its games after a year or so when game reached a peak and sales decline and its no longer trending thats when denuvo fulfilled its purpose, it protected the most important sales period so why keep that disgusting anti-consumer drm in old games?

https://gamerant.com/denuvo-drm-toxic-gamers-discord/

Learn a thing or two from Larian studios and Baldurs Gate 3 or the old cdprojekt red and cyberpunk 2077, the witcher saga or even Palworld, they sold millions with no drm whatsoever other than steam drm. Why so afraid of pirate boogeyman?

Oh no, a person no one knows isn't buying the game. News at 11.

They figured their game is so optimized they had some room for extra microstutters.

no kidding, reviews are mixed but i guess the 17k concurrent players are worth adding denuvo DRM to protect some thousands of sales from pirate's apocalypse.

It's typical for idiots like Frontier to never remove denuvo, no buy from me too, atleast not at this price point.
lukaself Nov 6, 2024 @ 3:06pm
As long as Frontier will keep threatening game preservation. They won't see a cent from me.

Was bieten sie?

Developers rely on additional DLCs to keep making money even after the initial hype has faded. In other words: Denuvo = DLCs = cash. This is how the industry stays alive, even if certain games are already past their prime. The developers paid 800,000 euros for Denuvo and another 200,000 euros per year to maintain this protection and secure sales.

Why does a DLC cost 19 euros right from the start? Because future DLCs will also be priced around 19 euros. And what do they offer? One new attraction and a few minor extras—that's it.

Unfortunately, Denuvo with its 256-bit system, constantly checking if you’re online and have a valid license, is the new standard. As long as there are players like us who still buy these products despite the issues, nothing will change. If the entire gaming community stood together and refused to buy any game with Denuvo, maybe things would improve. But that’s hardly realistic.

In the end, Denuvo will stay—and developers will continue to pull money out of our pockets.

So, Denuvo reads files like all the v8.dlls, the exe, and kepler.dll—nice.

This year only 30 games used Denuvo, 45% less than last year. There are above 15k games releasing on Steam every year, among them more than 500 AA and AAA. You could literally play good games for years without touching a single game with Denuvo. The best part? The top seller for any given year this past decade has always been a DRM-free game.

Even EA released their biggest title this year without Denuvo for the first time in a decade. I think the industry is getting the message loud and clear. :HappyOtus:

I would be really happy if some developers stick to this and actually follow through. After all, Cypherpunk and other big game developers have proven that it works — their games sold twice as much without Denuvo or DRM protection. In my opinion, it has also doubled their sales.

If more developers recognize this, it could positively impact the entire industry in the long run. There's clearly a market for DRM-free games, and the more developers realize this, the more might follow suit. If this trend continues, we could see more and more major titles released without restrictive copy protection in the future.
