Can I play over the Internet or LAN?

Either! Satellite Reign supports Internet or LAN/Local play. Unfortunately split-screen is not supported.

Can I join games on Steam via my friends list?
Yes, next question…..NEXT QUESTION

Does Satellite Reign support platform crossplay?
Yes! You can play against your friends on any combination of PC, Mac and Linux. Other platforms don't count so stop asking.

How does the save game system work with multiplayer?

You can use your existing single player save games in multiplayer and vice versa. However only the host has control over loading and saving games.

How do I start a multiplayer co-op Server?

To start a server you can either start a fresh game or load an existing save

To start a fresh game:

  • On the "Select User" Screen select "New User"
  • Select "Singleplayer"
  • Change "Host" to "Internet" or "Local" depending on what type of game you'd like to start
  • Enter your desired user and server names and enter password if you want to restrict users who can connect to your server.
  • You can enable or disable any of the Game Mode Options and when you're happy with your set up click "Confirm"

To load an existing save:

  • On the "Select User" Screen select the desired user that has the save game you'd like to load.
  • On the "Select Save" screen, highlight the save game you'd like to load and instead of clicking "Load Game". Select "Load Multiplayer" instead.
  • Enter your desired player and server names and enter password if you want to restrict users who can connect to your server.
  • Click "Load Game" to start your server.

Can I direct connect using an IP?

Yes, if you go to the "Join Multiplayer" screen and without selecting a server from the list, click "Join". You'll be able to manually input an IP and connect directly.

How do I use the in-game Chat?

Press ENTER on your keyboard, enter your text and then press ENTER again to submit your message.
What port does Satellite Reign use?

7777 However internet games use the Unity Relay server so this should not be relevant.

Why can't I find servers/connect to servers?

Satellite Reign Multiplayer uses Unity's relay servers which are region specific, the 3 regions being North America, Europe and Asia. You will only be able to see and connect to servers in your region. If you're still having issues ensure that your Firewall (Windows or otherwise) is not blocking the Satellite Reign EXE file.

Can I play Co-Op with only 2 or 3 players? or do I need 4?

You can have any arrangement or agent allocation to accomodate up to 4 players, If you have 2 players, you can have 2 agents each or one can have 1 while the other has 3. Players can drop in and out at any time and swap agents whenever you please.

I don’t have 3 friends to play Co-Op with?
That’s not really a question. Maybe you should buy 3 more copies of Satellite Reign and give them to strangers at the bus stop, that’s how you make lifelong friendships and influence people.

Where are my pants?
Good question, stop staring at me and give me back my baby oil.

Fixed, the 4 relay servers should have been 3.

Make sure to add the notes of Oping-in for the Coop Beta, saves some search time and frustration of gettin it working

Properties > Beta > Choose "coop_beta" > wait for message confirmation > download update, if any > play

*smears the baby oil*

Ever since 1.13.01 the regular version has had multi-player available, so why would anyone need to opt-in?

So..... which is it? I can connect to people on Steam OR only in my region..... cuz i have friends on my list who arnt in my region.
Gillsing Dec 28, 2016 @ 7:25am
I'm fairly certain that Steam doesn't connect anyone through Unity's region-blocked relay servers. So you should be able to connect to Steam-friends in other regions. As long as they're running their Satellite Reign in internet multiplayer-mode. Or LAN might work too, maybe? Try it to find out!
The Menace Dec 30, 2016 @ 3:50am
I have tried all available options to bypass the region locking: direct IP, VPN, through Steam invites.

It does not work. You cannot play with people outside your region. This limitation is baffling and should be removed.

Here's an updated FAQ

>>Can I play over the Internet or LAN?

You can play over the internet with people in the same region as you. This is due to an arbitrary design decision we made over morning coffee after a huge hangover. You should not play with people on the internet anyway.

>>Can I join games on Steam via my friends list?

All this does is launching the game. Nothing else. So no, you cannot really join games through Steam, we just made it so that it looks like you can. You wished it worked! Ahah!

>>Why can't I find servers/connect to servers?

Because we decided so and you should not have friends outside your country/region. Foreigners are bad, mkay?

In all seriousness, please remove this region thing. Your game is small, it's not a MMO, it doesn't require sharding servers accross the globe. Lag is irrelevant: give PEOPLE the choice and don't force arbitrary decisions on us. I prefer latency over not playing with my friends.

Thank you very much.
Gillsing Dec 30, 2016 @ 8:44am
I'm sure the devs wished there were no region block, but it's apparently a Unity thing for the Unity relay servers. And maybe Unity is meant to serve MMOs and other games that might need to be region locked? Hopefully this can be fixed at some point though. It's disconcerting to hear that LAN doesn't work, because that's what people reported as working when combined with a VPN service.

And I didn't know that all Steam did was launch the game and not connect Steam friends together for multiplayer. That's pretty crappy of Steam. I expected better. If that's all it does, there is no reason to use the word 'join', which I'm sure I've read when I spotted Steam friends playing Satellite Reign. And I'm pretty sure that the devs have said that joining friends should work across regions.

While looking for something else I discovered that I never opted in for Coop_beta or anything else. So I suspect that the 'strange reason' was actually due to random fluctuations in the internet force. And for all I know, a lot of multiplayer attempts that should work, end up not working due to mysterious internet failings.
The Menace Dec 31, 2016 @ 5:33am
Nah, the internet is a reliable series of tubes. I just cannot believe the region sharding cannot be turned on/off on Unity. That's a basic feature of cloud services...

As for the "join" not working through Steam, my bet is not on Steam but on the developers of this game to have done a quick/poor job with it.

have problem with Map Port !!
Formingsaturn Jan 1, 2017 @ 9:44am
I have a problem. I am logging with a friend (specified, we're logging via internet so probably the unity relay) but I am getting terrible lag-spikes. My character keeps blinking in and out of existence. The stranger thing is that. It affects every other player but the host. The host is fine and dosn't lag. It seems as if we're all getting the feedback from the host. It dosn't matter which one is the host. And worst of all... when the host is in the esc-menu. the lag stops. So basicly, everyone can play as long as the host isn't directly playing the game. that include, looking at the map, checking loadouts, etc.

Anyone got a clue on how to fix this ?

So specify what happens, I'd explain it as character reset their position every seconds. I'm running down a street, then I go back 3 feet, keep running, go back 3 feet. and that include every character on my screen. (including enemies)

I've had that 'running backwards' thing happen occasionally when I've been a player in someone else's game. The one time I remember was when I ordered my agent to assassinate a guard, and later it turned out that the guard was (apparently) in a different position in the host's game than in mine, so while it looked to me like I was sending my agent in one direction, I was actually sending that agent in a completely different position (getting shot dead as a result). The 'running backwards' probably occurred due to my game trying to adjust to 'reality' while at the same time being ordered to act upon a target that was in a false position.

It's not strange that lag affects anyone but the host. The host shouldn't have any problems at all, since the game is running on the host's machine. That the lag stops when the host goes to a mission control screen might mean that there's a bottleneck somewhere, so that it's only when the host is 'taking a break' from the game that the host's CPU can handle the other player(s). How are the system specs for you and your friend? Specifically your CPUs, I suppose, since those would be the ones being taxed the most.

I'm not really sure how to answer that. I'm not good at pulling out my computer specs. what do I need to pull up ?

And yes, that is pretty much what is happening to me. Basicly, the host gets real-time but the guests dosn't. Although we tried switching host. The menu thing is only working when he is the host and I am the guests.

This is what I found on my PC. I don't know about his though:

Processor : AMD FX(tm) 8350 Eight-core processor 4.00 ghz.

Ram : 8.00 GO
64x exploitation system.
Windows 10.

Well, in Linux Mint there's "System Info" under "Preferences" in the "Menu". For other operating systems I guess there should be something similar in some other kind of easily accessible settings area.
