Psionic Rookies: What's a good baseline?
My Psi Lab has been sitting empty for a while since I've had a shortage of rookies with a psionic aptitude above 20. Is 20 a good point to say "yeah, this guy'd be worth more as a psi operative than as another class"? I know it's a case-by-case basis, but I've had less rookies on hand recently, so I'm not sure what's "normal" for these guys.

While it's awesome to have a rookie with high Psi it's not a crucial stat.

There are only 3 spells which make use of the Psi stat: Schism/Insanity, Void/Insanity and Domination. The others Psi skills don't mke use of the stat - it won't even boost the damage.

The most stat gain come through leveling up and the Psi Amplifiers (which boost damage to some spells). Know that you can get 10 additional Psi for sacrificing 10 Will with one item.

Make sure that you get another mod!

Ya PSI is not working right there is an issue with one of the paths getting stuck at a leveling point and not being able to progress.

I think there are two fixes,
"LW2 PSI fix"
and
"Make PSI Ops great again"

or something like that, one of those just fixes the issue, the other one gives basically some more goofy abilities to play with like being able to pick up loot from anywhere also it fixes leveling issue with PSI.

PSI are ok, but at some point I just realised I probably should have used a "Targetting Drone" in my group that used a PSI Ops, cause of tactical defense stacks.

Psi is much better in 1.4 than in 1.2. Insanity doesn't end ones turn, so you if your psi-ops is positioned well, s/he can use Insanity and then another action. Insanity seems to hit more frequently, too, but I don't think that was actually changed? I like to put an exosuit on mine as well as mindwhip and some frag grenades. They can become strong against single targets fairly quickly. There is a "bug" of sorts with one of the build choices you may want to look that up on the Pavonis site. I had one start with 30 psi strength in my latest campaign and I select most over 20.

I shoot for PSI trooper is the high 20s, and low 30s. I've has as high as 34 to start. A 34 start promoted to Magnus had a total of 118 psi power at top level + the boosts for the mind whip and an alien PSI generator
