I occasionally have to use the camera zoom in addition to the mouse 3 scroll wheel to look for the body of a soldier on the ground, so I can find them and carry their bodies out. When I am zoomed in, I am always impressed by the amount of detail they put into the game.
As far as suggestions, well, nothing else comes close in my opinion. You might try looking at some video reviews on Phoenix Point on YouTube.
Pretty impressive that a game that's been modded so much as this still doesn't have any graphic overhauls.
The fact that they managed to make the game look better than a lot of modern games of the genre on UE3 (a very old engine nowadays, at least 12 years since its release) is extremely impressive. The game is also quite stable, and mods make it run flawlessly. I have to say though that by far the biggest reason the game is so extremely good is because of the amazing mod support, the SDK, and the community thay makes so many mods even today.
If they ever make an XCOM 3 they better include mod support right off the bat.
