Game crashing on startup

I previously played a game of LWOTC which was enjoyable, but this time i just wanted to play a standard campaign of WOTC, so i deselected LWOTC at startup and started playing.

Things went smoothly until i went on the mission to rescue Mox. I don't know if it's connected to that specific mission or just a coincidence, but when the skyranger was sent out to the mission site on the world map, the game crashed as soon as the skyranger reached its destination. Since then the game crashes on startup whenever i try to play.

The crashes take one of two forms; 1. the various loading screens begin stuttering and then simply crash to desktop. 2. the loading screens proceed normally, (however i cannot click through them as normal,) and then the game freezes before i actually see the main menu. this freeze affects my entire monitor including any new applications or menus i open up, and is only fixable by restarting my computer.

In an effort to fix it I have so far: Verified the games files, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, tried starting the game without any LWOTC related mods, tried starting the game with LWOTC re-enabled, running a protection scan on my computer (and subsequent removal of any threats found,) uninstalling and reinstalling the game again, re-verifying the games files again, and lastly trying to start the game with the AML. Nothing has worked and the game still crashes on startup. Any help or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

When you uninstalled, did you remove the files from documents?

Find the game in documents, browse in to the config folder, delete the contents of the config folder in documents NOT the installation folder.

Launch which rebuilds vanilla config files. Launch a second time, it picks up the mods. Go to mod settings, make any changes you want to make, shut it down, launch again and play.

I just uninstalled the game, and deleted the contents of the config folder in documents for both the base game and WOTC. upon re-installation the base game will start, however launching either WOTC or the original mod launcher still result in a crash.
