XCOM 2
Mods don't work?
Finally 2K removed their crappy launcher, but why does my mods no longer work? Neither in the original or WOTC. Have tried to reinstall everything, but to no avail.

Which of the four launcher options are you (now) using? Some seem to let mods work while others don't.
Personally I've been using the "original" launcher that sits at the bottom of the list of four and my mods have been working the same as they ever have.
i had to disable all my mods then enable just the two Highlander Community Patches - Base and DLC. Then run WOTC and when i got the Highlander versions menu in the bottom right i kew the mods worked and i could start to enable my other mods.

Once Highlander was showing up then the simplest test i found was enabling Mod Config Menu, Unrestricted Cutomization Redux and Alien Armours. I was then able to see the "Mod Options" button in the Options Panel. Then i would enable the rest of my mods in the modlist.

I used AML as a launcher but the same test should work for all of them.

I also had to make sure i was subscribed to the latest version of the same release for both of the Highlander Community Patches, either Release or Beta. I think i had mixed them somehow when i was testing as i had mods working fine on GOG but Steam was a pain to get working.
I downloaded the alternative mod launcher (AML) and then the mods worked.

I have the exact same issue. I had an extensive list of mods that worked perfectly fine the last time I played the game, about 2 years ago. I restarted a new campaign recently, just to find out that none of them work.

- I reinstalled the game from scratch, twice
- Unsubscribed & subscribed again to all the mods I had (needless to say, all of them are WOTC-compatible)
- Unsubscribed again & downloaded them through Nexus Mods using the Vortex mod manager
- Tried launching the game via the Alternative Mod Launcher
- Checked the files
- Deleted almost everything in the WOTC MyDocuments folder to force the game rebuild the extensions

None of it worked. For the time being, I still have 0 working mods - cosmetics, voicepacks, QoL mods, everything. I've been on this issue for 4 hours now, I don't get it and it really starts to get on my nerves. Every bit of help would be hugely appreciated.

did you try binary check? Remove half, try, and again till you find the culprits
Thats literally all you can do really unless you check the crash log and it give you a hint

None of the mods work, no matter which ones I test. They used to before but now for some reason they don't. Afaik the only thing that changed since last time I played (a few years ago) was the 2K launcher being removed. As terrible as it was, it at least had the advantage of managing mods. Since the launcher got removed my mods don't work anymore, I see a causality. And the AML which is supposed to take that role back doesn't work for me. All my mods are installed correctly in the right folders, but as soon as I launch the game, even through AML, it's as if they just didn't exist. It's hair-tearing.

I'm going through the same... For me at least it looks like it's the actual LWOTC mod that's not working properly.

And yes, I've tried AML too. :)

at least you can play the game man
I just had another go. It's deffo the LWOTC-mod that's not working. I can start the game just fine with all the other mods needed to run LWOTC, but as soon as I select the LWOTC-mod the game stops at the DOS-window with the 'no response' message..

Are you sure you also have all required mods for LWotC enabled? Since 8 required mods is quite a lot and if you manually activate all your mods it's certainly possible that you forgot to activate one of them. (or 9 required mods if you also play with the alien hunters DLC)

And do you also have frame rate smoothing disabled?

Yes I'm sure. And yes, all the mods are activated. And yes, FRS is disabled etc..
I have now:

*Uninstalled Xcom2 in it's entirety
*Deleted any and all left over files associated with the game
*Removed any and all posts in the registry associated with the game
*Restarted my computer
*Made sure all drivers are up-to-date

*Reinstalled the game
*Downloaded the latest AML
*Started the game. Works.
*Downloaded and activated LWOTC and the associated mods

Failed to start the game.

I give up.........
