How to start war of the chosen
Hello, this is probably stupid to ask, but, I do not seem to understand how to start WOTC.

I read online I have to select the option when the game launches but when I click on XCOM 2 it loads the game and it directly sends me to the main vanilla menu, then when I start a game I do not get an option to switch. I read I could of chosen through the 2K launcher but they recently pushed it out.

Again, this is probably stupid but how do I lunch the DLC?

With the removal of the 2K launcher, there are now 4 launch options. If you are using the desktop shortcut, it is apparently fixed to the first of those options which is the base game. this is a Steam default.

If you launch through Steam you can choose your launch option, if you've never done it there should be a popup asking what you want to launch. If you at some point did select, you can change it in your library - right-click XCOM2, go Properties, and on the General tab there's a Launch Options pulldown. Either of the 2 mod launcher options will let you choose either version of the game before you start, or you can default directly to WOTC. But you have to launch through Steam.

Better yet, download the Alternative Mod Launcher from github. You will need it if you want to ever use mods anyway.

Not true, since the 2K Launcher was removed.

That said, the AML is still extremely useful in checking for mod conflicts and corruption.

Not stupid at all since they decided to break the desktop shortcut when they yanked the previous launcher.

Start it from Steam, go to the game page and then WOTC dlc and click "Play"
Or instead of clicking Play you could right-click, copy the link and paste it in the "url" tab when you open the "properties" of the desktop shortcut. For some reason it opens something similar to the launcher. I've told it in a post weeks ago.

Played before the launcher was added. Mod activation was still spotty. AML is flat more reliable.

It didn't work when I first tried, but got one working now.
To be clear the WotC button that you right click on is "Play Now" and I had to make a shortcut from scratch. I couldn't paste into the broken one.

Thanks for the tip!

Doesnt matter the 2K launcher was removed. Game itself cannot see and load fully all mods. Same mod load, launched with AML is a totally different game.

All my mods are loading fine with the "old" mod launcher option.
