System requirements & Questions regarding such
NB: This thread was originally to clarify that we did not know the system requirements. They have now been released, at least for Windows, but the first 100 or so posts are related to the lack of system requirements. Discussion should now follow in terms of reaction to those system requirements.

The system requirements published for Windows are as follows:

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows® 7, 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 2.6 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5770, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or better
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 45 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card
Additional Notes: Initial installation requires one-time Internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include Steam Client, Microsoft Visual C++2012 and 2013 Runtime Libraries and Microsoft DirectX.

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows® 7, 64-bit
Processor: 3GHz Quad Core
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: 2GB ATI Radeon HD 7970, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 or better

Feel free to ask questions to clarify things, and share opinions, but remember to treat everyone with respect, and remember that there may not be answers to all questions.

This includes asking if people think your system will run the game, or run it well. Every answers is the poster in question's own opinion, even if it's a moderator saying it. Other threads asking such questions may be merged here, or closed with reference to this thread.

Not sure if it will run well or not. On Low hopefully yes, you are pushing the minimum specs here.

Fair. My build at home shouldn't have any problems playing this game but being in university I have this laptop to work with for now. Even turning down the resolution is what I'll eventually be doing to help boost the FPS if possible.

It "should" run. Will it run well? Dunno
Enhas 22 lutego 2016 o 12:17
It'll probably run but expect problems, especially with the performance problems the game has. Once it's (hopefully) fixed, then it should run even better on all systems.

To get the most possible performance though, you should probably do something like this:

Do these first:

- 1280x720 resolution
- Minimal graphics preset
- Vsync and Framerate smoothing off

Now exit the game and do these tweaks, at least (in Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\Config\XComEngine.ini):

DynamicDecals=False
DynamicShadows=False
DynamicShadowsFromDominantLights=False
LightEnvironmentShadows=False
MotionBlur=False
bAllowLightShafts=False
Distortion=False
DropParticleDistortion=True
bForceLowResFOW=True
FogVolumes=False
AllowRadialBlur=False
ParticleLODBias=2000000
MaxMultiSamples=0
MaxWholeSceneDominantShadowResolution=128
MaxShadowResolution=128
Trilinear=False
MipFadeInSpeed0=0
MipFadeOutSpeed0=0
MipFadeInSpeed1=0
MipFadeOutSpeed1=0
PhysXGpuHeapSize=64
PhysXMeshCacheSize=16
DisableATITextureFilterOptimizationChecks=False
UseMinimalNVIDIADriverShaderOptimization=False
PoolSize=256

Save, and set the .ini file to read only (if you don't, none of the changes will take effect when you start the game).

It won't exactly look the best but it should net a good amount of extra FPS.

Sounds good! Planning to pick it up sometime later today. Thanks for the tips and heads up!

It won't be pretty.

Hrm, I think these people are giving you a bum steer here.

My laptop is only marginally better, perhaps not even that (worse GPU, better CPU) and I happily play the game on high settings at 1920x1080. You're comfortably over the minumum system requirements, and if it doesn't work then there's always steam refunds.

There could be different issues. before today with a mod activated I had 0 issue on high graphics.
No slow downs or anything, yes if I push it to maximum graphics issue persist.

But can´t find what is wrong suddenly even with the mod removed and disk clean up and caches dumped. so it is very annoying for people. if they got the similar issue.
Enhas 22 lutego 2016 o 12:53
If people can run the game on higher settings with few, if any problems... then great!

What I posted is basically a "squeeze as many frames as possible" guide that's a combination of loads of other tweak lists all over the place, in case there's problems running the game.

You shouldn't have an issue running it, it will probably be minimal or low settings with a reduced resolution (1366x720), turn off vsync and frame smoothing, disable AA and Tile AO. You can turn up the texture graphics if you want as it doesn't tend to bother the fps that much. Tweak and save your setting for abit and see what gives you more fps.

Hi,

I am trying to figure out whether I can run this game on my laptop.

Specs:
Windows 8-64 Bit
Intel Core i3-3217u 1.8 Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 8600M Series
6 GB of Ram

System Requirements Lab originally said my processor could not run Enemy Unknown, but I was able to get a smooth framerate in that game without changing any settings. I had only occasional drops when a berserker would run toward one of my soldiers, but the game ran fine otherwise. I know X-Com 2 doesn't ask for much more out of the processor, but I'm worried that my video card isn't up to par with it. Thanks.

Can I run this on my build as well?

Windows 7 64 Bit
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz, 2499 Mhz
AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series
4 GB Ram

Hi I was wondering if my laptop could run this game, and if so what performance should I expect, what settings should I expect and how many frames I should get out of it.

Intel Quad i7 2.2GHz
AMD Raddeon HD 7500/7600 series
8GB of Ram
Windows 8.1 64-bits.
Nebhead 27 lutego 2016 o 6:58
Although I have read the system requirements on the store page, I'm a little confused as to whether I could run this game.

That said, with this setup I'm gonna take a wild guess and say "no".

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series 1GB
16.0 GB Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz

Also, looking at the system requirements, it requires a minimum of DirectX 11? Didn't know DX11 was available for Windows 7 64bit (which I've got anyways)

I must admit, I've fallen behind the times in PC compents - haven't had to upgrade my PC for years now. I did upgrade it to the above [minus the GFX card] about 4 years ago now. Over the last few years I never bought any demanding new games - mostly played older games you see.

So I'm stuck about how to proceed with a new upgrade should I need to, which I'm assuming I'll most likely have to.

Only limiter on my upgrade I think is a new power supply too - exisiting one is 550W, and*** About a year ago for Christmas (XMas 2014) I did try upgrading to a new GFX card (was my brother's old GFX card btw, a GTX 770 I think). It didn't work due to my PSU from what he told me afterwards.***

Any assistance on this situation would be most appreciated.

EDIT

*** as it turns out, I couldn't find any reference to my PSU in my emails (i.e. as to where I bought it from) so I just opened up my computer only to find it as a Corsair GS700 PSU, so it's obviously 700 Watts right?

Now I'm thinking about it, the computer just kept shutting itself off when that GTX 770 was in my computer, and after discussion with a steam friend, he thinks that he might have forgotten to put the PCIE pin from the PSU to the card to power it up.

After my brother removed the GTX 770 from the computer he put the old ATI Radeon HD 5700 GPU back in and not had any issues since.
