System requirements & Questions regarding such
NB: This thread was originally to clarify that we did not know the system requirements. They have now been released, at least for Windows, but the first 100 or so posts are related to the lack of system requirements. Discussion should now follow in terms of reaction to those system requirements.

The system requirements published for Windows are as follows:

Feel free to ask questions to clarify things, and share opinions, but remember to treat everyone with respect, and remember that there may not be answers to all questions.

This includes asking if people think your system will run the game, or run it well. Every answers is the poster in question's own opinion, even if it's a moderator saying it. Other threads asking such questions may be merged here, or closed with reference to this thread.

Im having trouble getting the game to start. Do i meet the minumum requirements?

I have an Inspiron N7010

Basic Intel HD Graphic card

I3 processor (Intel64 Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 5)

Also it says I have Directx 10.1 (and sometimes it says 11, but who knows with this stuff.)

am i able to run this?

no, you have an integrated video card (it is not meant for gaming)
your cpu is not very good as well

I would like to just add my two cents.

I have just started playing the game on my Lenovo E550. Long story short, it's below minimum requirements.

It has an i5-5200U dual core CPU
It has an Intel HD 5500 series integrated graphics card with 64 MB of VRAM
It has 16 GB of RAM

It is essentially a potato.

That being said, the menu runs at 60FPS, the cutscenes are smooth, and while it isn't 60FPS while playing, it's still nice and playable at 30-45 FPS. Mind you my resolution is at 1280x720 and my settings are at low, but it still looks decent.

So for anyone wondering if their potato laptop can run it decently, I would say go for it.

That's interesting. This along with a few people saying turning off AA gives a major performance boost suggests that the biggest issue with the game is the AA.
That's interesting, since XCOM2012 has AA as a requirement.

That's incorrect, the Intel HD 4000 (provided that that's the graphics card you have) is more than enough for the game to run. They usually have some additional RAM dedicated to them as well. Your limiting factor may be your CPU, depending on its speed.

I am getting the error that I need direct X 10.1 or higher. Isn't that a windows thing? I am trying to run it on a mac.

Same here.... thought Direct X was for Windows only so wondering why it's asking for it when running a MAC?!
mac user here,

i have a macbook pro 15-inch, mid 2014

i7 2.8 Ghz Intel Core

16 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M VRAM:2048 MB

I'm on El Dorado 10.11.3 and even on 1440x900 something resulution and minimal preset on graphics I can only get 15-20 fps.

I finished tutorial mission 40 minutes more or less, because of lags.

please fix it somehow. please...
This is what I've got:

Windows 10 (64 bit)
Intel Core i3 CPU 3.06 GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670
DirectX Driver Version: 8.17.10.1129 apparently steam is wrong and my actual DirectX version is 10.1, according to the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
RAM: 4021 Mb

I get the launcher, then my screen goes black and one of two things happen:
1. Windows tells me that the game has crashed and that I should close the program.
2. It stays on the black screen indefinitely, Alt+Tabbing does nothing, Ctrl+Alt+Del almost works (painting the screen tells me that I am on the Ctrl+Alt+Del screen, but it is still completely black and clicking the options "available" does nothing). I have to manually shut off and restart my computer to continue using it.

Somehow in the series of verifying the game cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, and trial and error with booting up the game I've logged 33 minutes. I'll be upset if it turns out my computer simply is incapable of running the game and I've already breached the refund threshold from the many tries I have been (and likely will be) putting in to get it to work properly.

I think DirectX may be my problem, but I think that my graphics card isn't totally compatible with DirectX 11 (or 12 even) but apparently since I have Windows 10 I also have DirectX 12 so I'm fairly confused about this. It may just need a patch to work on my computer for all I know, I had this same sort of problem with Darkest Dungeon but patches fixed my problems.

Anyway, if anyone can explain what they think may be wrong or if it should actually be working that'd be great! :D
Hey guys, heres my setup, please please please lemme know if this is runable or if the crash im experiencing is jsut a bug I have to try and fix:

OS: Windows 10 64 bit
Proc: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9650
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
Direct X I think is up to date.

Lemme know if Im missing anything important.

Your issue may lay either in RAM, the fact you're running Windows 10, or in your graphics card, I know some cards aren't supported, and Windows 10 wasn't out when the game was primarily in development.

RAM I know isn't a bad fix, I can just download more from those wonderful websites buy some more, I'm pretty sure I have two slots available for more RAM.

However, if my graphics card is the problem (I suspect it is) then obviously I'm gonna go buying RAM from Apple for this computer. (this is an iMac running windows)

Seems strange to me that of all the things to get outdated in this computer, it'd be the video card instead of the processor but I don't really know that much about computers so maybe my assumption is dead wrong.

Your processor is 3.06 ghz, required is 2.6. It's probably graphics card or operating system, but i have friends with W10 who run it fine. (except the normal lag from the game being unoptimized)

Once it's done verifying game cache again I'm gonna see if turning off AA in the game files will allow it to at least start up, and I certainly could revert back to Windows 7 but again I don't know if it would be worth the hassle if it's ultimately the fault of my graphics card.

Thanks for patrolling this thread and helping out the computer-noobs like myself.

It might not be necessary to go all the way to 7

I have a GTX 260 core 216 (same family, series 200), and although i've read that GTX260 should be up to minimum requirements, from what i've read and searched in efforts to make this game work, i noticed that nvidia series 200 do not support the use of DX11 (a minimum requirement), so it will crash. I'm guessing your GTX 285 isnt DX11-compatible either.

Tomorrow i'm buying a new card and will test it again (hopefully it will work properly).
