console commands
im trying to get access to the console commands so i dont have to bother about the doomclock, since all the mods seem to just remove the avatar missions and i want to play those, but no matter what i do i cant get the console to come up. have they patched the game so you cant use the console or something? i could really use some help.

Did you set "-allowconsole" in the launch options. If no, this article will guide on how to do so. After which you can access the console via the "~" tilde key.

ive put -allowconsole in the launch options on steam, in the properties on the launch icon, nothing seems to work. when i launch the game it puts me to a launcher where i have to choose between normal and wotc, is that the issue? if so how do i stop that coming up?

See the following guide to create a desktop shortcut and then you can add the console command to the shortcut target command.

The console will only come up in game by using the tilde button. It is not a separate console UI.

that guide got me onto the game directly and stopped the red screen, but when i put -allowconsole in the properties target box it still didnt activate the console.
i am pressing the tilde key its doing nothing in the avenger, world map or in battle.

Don't complicate things by using different launchers and what not. Use the default launcher. And as per guide enter -allowconsole into the launch options and close the options pop-up. Then startup Xcom 2 WotC via launcher.

In game enter tilde key to open the cmd. You should see the following

thanks, other than the doomclock id have loved to be able to add a turn or two to the times missions since they often really rush you. the first one i had i started so far away that i couldnt help but lose my sniper. i think they went a bit mad with turn limits compared to xcom 1 lol

No worries, it's a single player game so play how you want.

But yes timers can get ridiculous especially in the early game. You pretty much have to dash to the objective for the first few turns instead of overwatch creep for certain missions.

Bringing that thread out of dust cause I've been trying all evening to get the console running. I've typed the -allowconsole command in the steam launch options as shown in the many tutorial I went through, however there is no "OK" bouton to validate the entry...🤔.

Anyway launching the game and trying any key on the keyboard isn't bringing anything forward... Fairly frustrating, I'm feeling it's in the steam part that I'm missing something...

The properties settings is saved after change without a need to apply the changes via a "OK" button. As long as you can see the options still there when you navigate back, it means the options are saved.

The key to bring up the console is tilde. In most keyboards, its the symbol beside number 1 (`/~).

The key can vary depending on your keyboard language though. I spent 10 minutes just hitting keys until I found one that worked the one time I needed to actually use console. It turned out to be ö on my keyboard. Swedish keyboard ftw! :steamhappy:

You need to use Alternative Mod Launcher or add the arguments to xcom2.exe directly, it doesn't work via steam/2k launcher.

Well, I just tried it out and the launch options "-allowconsole"still works despite still using the steam/2k launcher even now.
